After all, former President Joe Biden&rsquo;s criminal administration spent nearly three years <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidens-declaration-war-4-takeaways-state-union-address\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gaslighting Americans<\/a> about Ukrainian &ldquo;democracy.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Now, perhaps&nbsp;<em>Russia&nbsp;<\/em>has demanded a new election in Ukraine? And it sounds plausible enough for a reporter to ask the question without noting the irony? The audacity of the lies the Biden regime told the American people almost defies belief.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The leader in Ukraine, I mean, I hate to say it, but he&rsquo;s down at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/poll-joe-bidens-approval-scrapes-new-low-as-inflation-worries-build\/\" title=\"Poll: Joe Biden&#039;s Approval Scrapes New Low as Inflation Worries Build\">4 percent approval rating<\/a>,&rdquo; Trump said moments later.<\/p>\n<p>Then, Trump described the physical destruction to Zelenskyy&rsquo;s country. The president also hinted that the Russians could destroy the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv if they wanted to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, he returned to the matter of elections.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Yeah, I would say that, you know, [if] they want a seat at the table, you could say the people have to &mdash; wouldn&rsquo;t the people of Ukraine have to say, like, &lsquo;It&rsquo;s been a long time since we&rsquo;ve had an election,&#8217;&rdquo; Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>Then, the president preemptively debunked Zelenskyy&rsquo;s &ldquo;Russian disinformation&rdquo; claim.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;That&rsquo;s not a Russia thing,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bringing-receipts-watch-trump-silence-reporters-list-insane-government-waste-even-dont-try-defend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> added. &ldquo;That&rsquo;s something coming from me and coming from many other countries, also.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Trump says, that Zelensky&rsquo;s approval ratings are at a mere 4%. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/q474nrhtqd\">pic.twitter.com\/q474nrhtqd<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Open Source Intel (@Osint613) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Osint613\/status\/1891969744355430867?\">February 18, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In other words, Zelenskyy focused on Trump&rsquo;s &ldquo;4 percent&rdquo; claim but said nothing about an election. Ironically, an election would do more than anything else to disprove that claim.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the Ukrainian president blamed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nbc-uses-anonymous-intel-sources-attack-trump-admins-negotiations-russia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Russia<\/a> despite Trump&rsquo;s clear statement that the demand for an election came from him.<\/p>\n<p>To say that many Americans have grown exhausted and outraged by our government&rsquo;s gargantuan and seemingly limitless commitment to funding Ukraine&rsquo;s war would amount to one of history&rsquo;s biggest understatements.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/white-house-slams-short-sighted-zelenskyy-refusing-sign-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> has made clear that future U.S. security commitments would require a larger deal. And that deal must include, among other things, repayment from Ukraine for past funding by U.S. taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>Zelenskyy could reject a deal of that nature, and more power to him. After all, it is not for an American to tell the Ukrainian president what to do with his country and its resources.<\/p>\n<p>An American, however, does have the right to demand other things, including the aforementioned epochal shift in foreign policy.<\/p>\n<p>Americans liberated Western Europe from the Nazis 80 years ago. No one disputes this. The British could not have done it on their own, as legendary Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/yes-churchill-hero-hitler-villain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Winston Churchill<\/a> well knew.<\/p>\n<p>Americans also liberated Eastern Europe from Soviet Communism nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sen-graham-warns-against-changing-trump-era-foreign-polices\/\" title=\"Sen. Graham warns against changing Trump-era foreign polices\">40 years ago<\/a>. Native dissidents, of course, played a crucial role, as did Communism&rsquo;s fundamental weakness. But no one doubts that President Ronald Reagan&rsquo;s various forms of relentless pressure, both rhetorical and financial, hastened the demise of the Evil Empire.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the time has come to leave Europe to the Europeans.<\/p>\n<p>This will come with costs, including the potential rise of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/german-prosecutors-accidentally-prove-jd-vances-point-free-speech-disturbing-60-minutes-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">authoritarian Germany<\/a>. And that new Germany would look Marxist rather than fascist.<\/p>\n<p>Either way, Trump will extract the United States from the Ukraine boondoggle.
