Numerous Democrat presidents have done as much, or more, than Trump is doing now. Amid Democrats&rsquo; histrionics, history, and hypocrisy, their only consistency is a willingness to see federal and executive power used when it expands the state and the presidency for <em>their <\/em>goals.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond bemoaning Trump&rsquo;s actions of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/01\/28\/politics\/democratic-resistance-trump-federal-grant-freeze\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">freezing funding<\/a>, deporting&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/opinion\/opinion\/trump-ice-deportation-quota-rcna191499\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">illegal immigrants<\/a>, imposing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/making-america-expensive-again-dems-find-tax-dont-like-trump-tariffs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tariffs<\/a>, and blocking men from participating in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/rep-jasmine-crockett-says-trumps-012853067.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">women&rsquo;s sports<\/a>, Democrats label these actions existential threats to the republic.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Freezing funding for review is dubbed&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2025\/01\/28\/congress\/schumer-murray-funding-freeze-00200955\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unconstitutional<\/a>, despite estimates that the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">federal government made <\/a>.7 trillion in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsnationnow.com\/politics\/government-waste-inefficiency-trump-doge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">erroneous payments<\/a>&nbsp;since 2003 and created a $1.8 trillion&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/publication\/60843\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deficit<\/a>&nbsp;in fiscal 2024. Deporting illegal immigrants is labeled&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/10\/12\/trump-racist-rhetoric-immigrants-00183537\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">racist<\/a>, despite these individuals having broken the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/news\/2025\/01\/26\/president-trump-already-securing-our-border-and-deporting-criminal-aliens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">law<\/a>. Imposing tariffs is decried as inflationary, despite the Biden-Harris administration having fueled&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/CORESTICKM159SFRBATL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">inflation<\/a>&nbsp;throughout their four years. And barring men from women&rsquo;s sports is called&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/politics\/6-ways-trumps-executive-orders-are-targeting-transgender-people\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">transphobic<\/a>, despite the law&rsquo;s clear intent to base itself on biological differences rather than ideological preferences.<\/p>\n<p>An irony of history underlies these histrionics. Joe Biden clearly and continually tried to overturn the parameters of presidential power. He repeatedly sought to shift&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/10\/22\/politics\/biden-student-loan-forgiveness-supreme-court\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">student debt<\/a>&nbsp;to the general taxpayer, even though the Supreme Court had&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasfaa.org\/news-item\/34741\/Student_Debt_Relief_Deep_Dive_A_Look_at_The_Biden_Administration_s_Efforts_and_Obstacles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ruled<\/a>&nbsp;against it. So much for Democrats&rsquo; inflation concerns. Biden opened the border in violation of his constitutional obligation to enforce the law &mdash; then he&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/homeland.house.gov\/2024\/03\/23\/an-abuse-of-parole-by-design-homeland-republicans-demand-answers-from-the-biden-administration-on-cbp-one-mass-parole-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abused<\/a>&nbsp;his power of parole to open the border wider still.<\/p>\n<p>Biden preemptively issued blanket&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/01\/20\/politics\/joe-biden-preemptive-pardons\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pardons<\/a>&nbsp;aplenty, right until he left office. For her part, then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris made it a point of pride to say that she would support&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2024\/09\/23\/nx-s1-5123955\/kamala-harris-abortion-roe-v-wade-filibuster\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abolishing<\/a>&nbsp;the filibuster to advance abortion. There is no telling &mdash; because Harris assiduously refused to tell us &mdash; what she would have done with executive power had she held its reins. The Biden-for-Harris switch broke every Democrat presidential process rule in spirit when not in letter. And Democrats also called for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.democracydocket.com\/news-alerts\/biden-joins-chorus-of-democrats-calling-for-reform-in-the-us-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reordering<\/a>&nbsp;the Supreme Court to overturn its conservative majority. Now, Democrats are intentionally&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/02\/05\/senate-democrats-trump-musk-resistance-012557\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">delaying<\/a>&nbsp;Trump&rsquo;s nominees.<\/p>\n<h2>Democrats&rsquo; History of Expanding Presidential Power<\/h2>\n<p>None of this is new. Democrat Party history is a tapestry of presidential power expansions. President Andrew Jackson completely&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/Worcester-v-Georgia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ignored<\/a>&nbsp;a Supreme Court ruling. Woodrow Wilson took unprecedented&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/12\/13\/1142474637\/woodrow-wilson-led-the-u-s-into-wwi-he-also-waged-war-on-democracy-at-home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">power<\/a>&nbsp;for the presidency during World War I. Franklin Roosevelt later built on Wilson&rsquo;s precedents; after being blocked by numerous Supreme Court rulings against his expansions of federal power, he moved to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fjc.gov\/history\/timeline\/fdrs-court-packing-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pack<\/a>&nbsp;the Supreme Court &mdash; only to see the country&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/history\/when-franklin-roosevelt-clashed-with-the-supreme-court-and-lost-78497994\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bridle<\/a>&nbsp;at his plan. Harry Truman repeatedly announced his intention to take control of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/constitutioncenter.org\/education\/classroom-resource-library\/classroom\/8.5-primary-source-youngstown-sheet-tube-co-v-sawyer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">railroads<\/a>&nbsp;in 1946, finally actually seizing the nation&rsquo;s steel mills in 1952 &mdash; only to have the Supreme Court&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/constitutioncenter.org\/education\/classroom-resource-library\/classroom\/8.5-primary-source-youngstown-sheet-tube-co-v-sawyer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">strike down<\/a>&nbsp;his move.<\/p>\n<p>In the next Democrat administration, John Kennedy had the Bay of Pigs&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lawfaremedia.org\/article\/remembering-bay-pigs-law-and-covert-war\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">invasion<\/a>. Lyndon Johnson used the Gulf of Tonkin&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/history.state.gov\/milestones\/1961-1968\/gulf-of-tonkin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attack<\/a>&nbsp;to push America ever deeper into the Vietnam War. Bill Clinton tried to thoroughly remake the nation&rsquo;s health care system, coming within a Hillary of succeeding. Barack Obama famously announced his intention to govern unilaterally from the Oval Office by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2014\/01\/obama-state-of-the-union-2014-strategy-102151\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announcing<\/a>,&nbsp;&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve got a pen, and I&rsquo;ve got a phone.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This parade of presidential aggrandizement would undoubtedly be applauded now if undertaken by a Democrat president today. This realization should cut through today&rsquo;s obfuscation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The only consistency in their tableau of histrionics, history, and hierarchy (the rules don&rsquo;t apply to these elites) is that Democrats are quite willing to see the power of the presidency expand by any and all means &mdash; as long as it is used to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/7-comedians-brave-enough-to-roast-dr-fauci\/\" title=\"7 Comedians Brave Enough To Roast Dr. Fauci\u00a0\">expand government<\/a>, spending, and generally advance their ends. Today&rsquo;s reason is simple: The ends they are now seeking to advance are so extreme that voters will never approve of them. Enviro-extremism, trans insanity, and open borders: Democrats have no other way to achieve their extremist initiatives than to impose them through an expanded presidency.<\/p>\n<h2>Thwarting Trump<\/h2>\n<p>Democrats are now using the courts to try to thwart what Trump is doing. As long as rulings slow Trump, Democrats will&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6368641692112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">applaud<\/a>&nbsp;them. However, as soon as new rulings overturn the lower courts, Democrats will curse the courts just as they are Trump now.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Democrats&rsquo; real grievance is not with expanding presidential power. It is not even so much with Trump. And it won&rsquo;t be so much with the courts when the courts uphold Trump&rsquo;s actions. It is with last November&rsquo;s voters who overwhelmingly rejected Democrats&rsquo; distorted dystopian view of what America should be.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      J.T.
