towers at smaller municipal airports across the country.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;These new air traffic control towers will mean that smaller airports can handle more flights, more sustainably and more affordably,&rdquo; now-former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced in the spring of 2023, according to the Times.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I look forward to seeing this design go from the drawing board to construction sites across the country, helping our nation&rsquo;s airports support more travelers, grow their local economies and prepare for the future of low-carbon aviation,&rdquo; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Practice for Architecture and Urbanism, a firm based in Manhattan, won the design contract.<\/p>\n<p>The company says on its <a href=\"https:\/\/pau.studio\/who\/#:~:text=PAU%20is%20a%20New%20York,Ruchika%20Modi%2C%20the%20firm's%20Principal.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a> that it is known for &ldquo;building ecological, equitable, and joyous communities.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Executives laid out an ambitious plan for structures that were all-electric and made of &ldquo;renewable mass timber&rdquo; and recycled steel, as well as being equipped with geothermal heating and cooling, not to mention other renewable energy features.<\/p>\n<p>The FAA told firms seeking the lucrative contract &ldquo;to think outside the box, using your innovation and creativity to turn exciting ideas into our new reality,&rdquo; per the Times.<\/p>\n<p>That seems to be exactly what Practice for Architecture and Urbanism accomplished.<\/p>\n<p>But was that the right decision?<\/p>\n<p>Our nation has been thinking &ldquo;outside the box&rdquo; in a number of ways, especially socially and politically, yet the result has not always been stellar.<\/p>\n<p>The environmental movement, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/disney-making-dei-changes-will-impact-classic-movies-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">diversity<\/a> movement, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/woke-comedy-manager-leaves-entertainment-industry-to-start-unsafe-space-podcast-after-seeing-the-light\/\" title=\"Woke Comedy Manager Leaves Entertainment Industry To Start \u2018Unsafe Space\u2019 Podcast After \u2018Seeing The Light\u2019\">social justice movement<\/a> all claim to create an &ldquo;outside the box&rdquo;
