Dept Slashes 0M For DEI Teacher ...\">planning instruction relationship building discipline<\/a> and assessment.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p> <script type=\"text\/javascript\"> \t\t\tif ( getCookie( \"ff_subbed\" ) ) { \t\t\t\tdocument.getElementById(\"stnvideo\").remove() \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>Instead of trying to recruit the best and brightest, the statement argued, &ldquo;[m]any of these grants included teacher and staff recruiting strategies implicitly and explicitly based on race.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The action came days after the Department axed 10 contracts totaling $336 million that were more focused on equity than education, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.gov\/about\/news\/press-release\/us-department-of-education-cancels-additional-350-million-woke-spending\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a> on the department&rsquo;s website.<\/p>\n<p>Grants to Regional Educational Laboratories were cut after a review of the project funded &ldquo;uncovered wasteful and ideologically driven spending not in the interest of students and taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>The release said the Regional Educational Laboratory Midwest urged &ldquo;equity audits&rdquo; and equity conversations on Ohio schools.<\/p>\n<p>Grants to four Equity Assistance Centers were cut, with the release saying that they supported &ldquo;divisive training in DEI, Critical Race Theory, and gender identity for state and local education agencies as well as school boards.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/federal-civil-rights-complaint-filed-dc-public-schools-disturbing-allegations-listed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Public schools<\/a> are not the only ones being told there is a new era dawning.<\/p>\n<p>The department told colleges getting federal money &ldquo;that they must cease using race preferences and stereotypes as a factor in their admissions, hiring, promotion, compensation, scholarships, prizes, administrative support, sanctions, discipline, and beyond,&rdquo; according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.gov\/about\/news\/press-release\/us-department-of-education-directs-schools-end-racial-preferences\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a> on the department&rsquo;s website. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/diversity-higher-ed-attack-biden-admin-awards-minority-colleges-100-million-wake-scotus-affirmative-action-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colleges<\/a> have 14 days to comply.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;With this guidance, the Trump Administration is directing schools to end the use of racial preferences and race stereotypes in their programs and activities&mdash;a victory for justice, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-campus-anti-semitism-skyrockets-even-as-coronavirus-forces-remote-learning\/\" title=\"Report: Campus Anti-Semitism Skyrockets Even as Coronavirus Forces Remote Learning\">civil rights laws<\/a>, and the Constitution,&rdquo; Acting Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Craig Trainor said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;For decades, schools have been operating on the pretext that selecting students for &lsquo;diversity&rsquo; or similar euphemisms is not selecting them based on race. No longer. Students should be assessed according to merit, accomplishment, and character&mdash;not prejudged by the color of their skin.
