Many of these&hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kAphE2Hbez\">pic.twitter.com\/kAphE2Hbez<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&mdash; Natalie Winters (@nataliegwinters) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nataliegwinters\/status\/1891472657343758695?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 17, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The New York Times ran a hit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/02\/14\/us\/politics\/zuckerberg-protect-democracy-funding.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">piece<\/a> trying to debunk Winters, citing Zuckerberg&rsquo;s spokesman, who said that &ldquo;neither Mr. Zuckerberg nor his wife, nor their joint philanthropic organization, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, had ever made a donation to Protect Democracy.&rdquo; Never mind the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Zuckerberg donated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/silicon-valley-community-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$1.75 billion<\/a> in Facebook stocks to SVCF in 2010, according to InfluenceWatch, and another donation of $200 million in 2018 &mdash; amounting to $1.95 billion total. The SVCF uses &ldquo;donor-advised fund[s],&rdquo; through which donors can &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/silicon-valley-community-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">advise<\/a> how their gifts are distributed.&rdquo; The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/02\/14\/us\/politics\/zuckerberg-protect-democracy-funding.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">seized<\/a> on this, saying Zuckerberg&rsquo;s account &ldquo;does not mean that he actually donated any funds to Protect Democracy.&rdquo;&nbsp;But according to InfluenceWatch, SVCF&rsquo;s assets <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/silicon-valley-community-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">skyrocketed<\/a> from more than $5.3 billion to $13.5 billion in 2017 &mdash; likely due to &ldquo;the appreciation of SVCF investments, which include potentially 36 million Facebook shares, donated by founder Mark Zuckerberg.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Documents from 2021 to 2023 show SVCF gave <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nataliegwinters\/status\/1890057959935525358\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more than $4 million<\/a> to Protect Democracy. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-lefts-phony-fake-electors-crusade-ramps-up-as-2024-election-draws-closer\/\" title=\"The Left&#039;s Fake Electors Crusade Grows as 2024 Election Nears\">leftist lawfare group<\/a> is now suing to <a href=\"https:\/\/protectdemocracy.org\/work\/defending-civil-servants-and-their-ability-to-work-for-the-american-people\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shield career bureaucrats<\/a> from Trump&rsquo;s executive order &ldquo;Restoring Accountability To Policy-Influencing Positions Within The Federal Government,&rdquo; and to <a href=\"https:\/\/protectdemocracy.org\/work\/stopping-the-illegal-exposure-of-americas-personal-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stop<\/a> federal departments from cooperating with the Elon Musk-led <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/department-of-government-efficiency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Government Efficiency<\/a>. As The Federalist previously reported, the group started a &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/10\/leftist-elections-task-force-is-a-whos-who-of-infamous-election-meddlers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Task Force On Election Crises<\/a>&rdquo; ahead of November, which promoted censorship and legal retribution.<\/p>\n<p>So, even if Zuckerberg did not directly designate money to Protect Democracy, he funneled billions to support the SVCF, which facilitated funding for anti-Trump lawfare &mdash; and his foundations have funneled millions to leftist groups.<\/p>\n<h2>Chan Zuckerberg Initiative<\/h2>\n<p>The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative may perhaps be most well known for its role in the &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/zuckbucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zuckbucks<\/a>&rdquo; scheme of 2020 &mdash; which funneled nearly $400 million from Zuckerberg through leftist nonprofits to local election offices. The strategy enabled these nonprofits &mdash; the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/center-for-technology-and-civic-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Center for Tech and Civic Life<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/center-for-election-innovation-and-research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Center for Election Innovation and Research<\/a> &mdash; to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/05\/wi-city-at-center-of-zuckbucks-scandal-looks-to-tap-leftist-lawfare-groups-ahead-of-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">influence<\/a> local election administration and target Democrat-heavy areas, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/for-profit\/chan-zuckerberg-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">boosting blue turnout<\/a> during the presidential race.<\/p>\n<p>But the group has gone beyond elections, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/for-profit\/chan-zuckerberg-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">funding<\/a> various migrant groups. According to InfluenceWatch, the Chan Zuckerberg initiative has given $1 million to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/national-immigration-forum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Immigration Forum<\/a> (which &ldquo;opposes border enforcement policies&rdquo;), $550,000 to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/immigrant-legal-resource-center-ilrc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Immigrant Legal Resource Center<\/a> (which &ldquo;offers legal services to migrants&rdquo; and advocates for permissive immigration policy), and $120,000 to the Justice Action Center (which, according to its website, files <a href=\"https:\/\/justiceactioncenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lawsuits<\/a> across the country to protect mass migration).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has also given <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/for-profit\/chan-zuckerberg-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$665,000<\/a> to the Center for American Progress, a large left-wing foundation that has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/center-for-american-progress-cap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">links<\/a> to the Democrat Party and &ldquo;enjoyed significant influence&rdquo; with the administrations of Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, according to InfluenceWatch. Zuckerberg&rsquo;s group also gave <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/for-profit\/chan-zuckerberg-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$3.25 million<\/a> to the Tides Center &mdash; which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/tides-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">manages<\/a> &ldquo;fiscal sponsorship&rdquo; for the powerful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/tides-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tides Foundation<\/a>, helping with &ldquo;incubation&rdquo; and funding of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">smaller leftist activist groups<\/a>. As The Federalist previously reported, the Tides Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/07\/politico-surprised-biden-donors-are-funding-pro-hamas-revolutionaries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">funded<\/a> anti-Israel, pro-Hamas protestors last spring.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to an archived Chan Zuckerberg Initiative <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250212200139\/https:\/\/chanzuckerberg.com\/grants-ventures\/grants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">webpage<\/a> from Feb. 12 &mdash; while the site still included more than 5,000 grants &mdash; the foundation gave $1.9 million total to CASA de Maryland and its action arm from 2018 to 2021. The group <a href=\"https:\/\/wearecasa.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opposes<\/a> immigration enforcement, and currently hosts a &ldquo;raid tip <a href=\"https:\/\/wearecasa.org\/know-your-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hotline<\/a>&rdquo; to &ldquo;report any ICE activity.&rdquo; The foundation also gave $50,000 to the Transgender Law Center in 2021 &ldquo;for core support to the Black LGBT Migrant Project&rdquo; &mdash; which <a href=\"https:\/\/transgenderlawcenter.org\/programs\/blmp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">aims<\/a> for &ldquo;a world without forced migration, where no one is forced to give up their homeland and where all Black LGBTQIA+ people are free and liberated.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has funneled nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/for-profit\/chan-zuckerberg-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$24 million<\/a> to the education arm of FWD.us (also known as Forward US) since 2015, according to InfluenceWatch. Zuckerberg founded the pro-leftist group.<\/p>\n<h2>FWD.us<\/h2>\n<p>Zuckerberg and Chan helped <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/fwd-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">launch<\/a> FWD.us in 2013, according to InfluenceWatch, and the group is a &ldquo;directly controlled entity of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.&rdquo; Other &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/fwd-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">founders and funders<\/a>&rdquo; of FWD.us include Microsoft founder Bill Gates and LinkedIn cofounder Reid Hoffman, a Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/09\/dem-donor-who-funded-election-disinfo-lawfare-is-backing-lawsuit-to-silence-election-journalism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">megadonor<\/a> who previously said he wished he &ldquo;made&rdquo; Trump a &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/15\/report-days-before-assassination-attempt-leftist-billionaire-wished-hed-made-trump-an-actual-martyr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">martyr<\/a>.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FWD.us has given millions to leftist causes, according to IRS tax documents. Its education branch, the FWD.us Education Fund, gave more than $1.49 million to the Justice Action Center from <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.irs.gov\/pub\/epostcard\/cor\/820962378_202012_990_2022102520542593.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2020<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.irs.gov\/pub\/epostcard\/cor\/820962378_202112_990_2023051121206236.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">to<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.irs.gov\/pub\/epostcard\/cor\/820962378_202212_990_2024010322156695.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2022<\/a>. According to InfluenceWatch, the group &mdash; which also accepted grants from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative &mdash; has organized <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/casa-de-maryland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">protests<\/a> against Trump&rsquo;s immigration policies, and its executive director pledged not to cooperate with requests by law enforcement seeking to discern workers&rsquo; immigration status.
