You know the 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum have, in fact, helped save American jobs in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-trump-makes-huge-us-steel-announcement-moment-recalls-workers-flooding-stage-thank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">steel<\/a> and aluminum industries. So what do we do with tariffs? We have to level the playing field. Do you plan to keep those tariffs in place?&rdquo; Ruhle asked.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Let me say, those tariffs have been effective,&rdquo; Raimondo responded. &ldquo;The data show that those tariffs have been effective. And I think what President Biden has said is we&rsquo;re going to have a &lsquo;whole of government&rsquo; review of all of these policies, and decide what it makes sense to maintain.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LtRykn2Nv4A?si=Jpxm8f6WtN01NJAh&amp;start=330\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Biden, in fact, kept the tariffs on China in place.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-trump-obliterates-bloombergs-editor-chief-hears-roar-crowd-fiery-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">imposed tariffs<\/a> on various Chinese products during his first term at a rate reaching as high as 25 percent.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/taxfoundation.org\/research\/all\/federal\/trump-tariffs-trade-war\/?utm_term=what%20is%20a%20tariff&amp;utm_campaign=Trade+and+Tariffs&amp;utm_source=adwords&amp;utm_medium=ppc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tax Foundation<\/a>, as of March 2024, those tariffs raised&nbsp;$233 billion&nbsp;since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>During the campaign, Trump proposed a new 10 to 20 percent tariff on all goods from all countries coming into the U.S., and increasing them even higher on China from its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-does-the-unthinkable-officially-calls-for-end-to-income-tax-may-be-first-potus-in-history-to-do-so\/\" title=\"Trump Does the Unthinkable - Officially Calls for End to Income Tax, May Be First POTUS in History to Do So\">current 25 percent level<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Tax Foundation calculated if the&nbsp;10 percent plan&nbsp;became&nbsp;policy,&nbsp;it would generate about $280 billion in revenue per year, increasing to $365 billion by 2033.<\/p>\n<p>It seems feasible the money raised could <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-white-house-planning-largest-tax-cut-history-middle-class\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fund Trump&rsquo;s plans<\/a> for no tax on tips, overtime, and Social Security.<\/p>\n<p>Despite claims during Trump&rsquo;s first term that tariffs would be inflationary, they turned out not to be.
