After all, concern for their own political prospects should compel Democrats to at least pretend to care about American citizens.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, Wednesday on the social media platform X, Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul of New York, one of America&rsquo;s most unpopular governors, responded to Attorney General Pam Bondi&rsquo;s lawsuit by doubling down on New York&rsquo;s wildly unpopular policies designed to shield illegal immigrants from federal immigration enforcement agents.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pam-bondi-blindsides-new-yorks-kathy-hochul-letitia-james-federal-charges-new-doj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bondi<\/a> announced federal charges against Hochul, New York state Attorney General Letitia James, and Mark Schroeder, the state commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;They have a &lsquo;tip-off&rsquo; provision that requires New York&rsquo;s DMV commissioner to promptly inform any illegal alien when a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-rules-an-illegal-immigrant-cant-be-deported-due-to-a-technicality\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Rules An Il... Immigrant Can\u2019t Be Deported Due To A Technicality\">federal immigration agency<\/a> has requested their information,&rdquo; Bondi said of a New York law she deemed &ldquo;unconstitutional.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p> <script type=\"text\/javascript\"> \t\t\tif ( getCookie( \"ff_subbed\" ) ) { \t\t\t\tdocument.getElementById(\"stnvideo\").remove() \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>Hence the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>Hochul responded on X with the typical Democrat&rsquo;s mixture of virtue-signaling and dishonesty.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;New York is proud that immigrants from across the globe come here searching for a better life, and we&rsquo;re protecting all New Yorkers by cracking down on violent criminals,&rdquo; she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/go-somewhere-else-ny-dem-gov-kathy-hochul-cries-uncle-illegals-overwhelm-sanctuary-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hochul<\/a> seemed not to understand the difference between legal and illegal immigration. Or, perhaps she understood the difference very well and yet still chose to gaslight her readers.<\/p>\n<p>Either way, she certainly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/stabbed-shot-sued-new-york-cops-explain-no-one-wants-work-nypd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">did not tell the truth<\/a> about her state&rsquo;s commitment to &ldquo;cracking down on violent criminals.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>A four-paragraph statement accompanied the post. In that statement, Hochul described Bondi&rsquo;s lawsuit as &ldquo;smoke and mirrors.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Then, she showcased the Democrats&rsquo; latest pathetic attempt to conjure a bugbear.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;But there&rsquo;s no way I&rsquo;m letting federal agents, or Elon Musk&rsquo;s shadowy DOGE operation, get unfettered access to the personal data of any New Yorker in the DMV system like 16-year-old kids learning to drive and other vulnerable people,&rdquo; she wrote.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">New York is proud that immigrants from across the globe come here searching for a better life, and we&rsquo;re protecting all New Yorkers by cracking down on violent criminals.<\/p>\n<p>We expect <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AGPamBondi?\">@AGPamBondi<\/a>&lsquo;s worthless, publicity-driven lawsuit to be a total failure. Otherwise those kids might fall prey to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jury-nails-trans-pedophile-groomed-little-girl-using-star-wars-raped\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">grooming<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ceo-alleges-biden-harris-administration-complicit-child-trafficking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">human trafficking<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In any event, Democrats have realized that Trump crushed them. They cannot touch him. So, they have decided to demonize Musk because DOGE threatens their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fact-check-usaid-leftist-money-laundering-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">decades-long money-laundering operation<\/a><\/a> in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>As for Hochul&rsquo;s defense of illegal immigrants, one wonders why she and other Democrats persist in something so unpopular.<\/p>\n<p>Among Democratic voters, especially the party&rsquo;s affluent base, the answer seems clear. Support for open borders amounts to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/interview-jeremy-carl-sounds-alarm-anti-white-racism-tearing-america-apart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">luxury belief<\/a> for people who live in gated communities.<\/p>\n<p>For elected officials like Hochul, however, the answer appears more complicated. On one hand, Democrats have wedded themselves to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hundreds-of-sheriffs-call-on-biden-to-finish-trumps-border-wall-stop-gangs-guns-dangerous-drugs-entering-u-s\/\" title=\"Hundreds Of Sheriffs Call On Biden To Finish Trump\u2019s Border Wall, Stop \u2018Gangs, Guns, Dangerous Drugs\u2019 Entering U.S.\">mass illegal immigration<\/a> as an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/2024-election-biden-says-quiet-part-loud-reason-border-invasion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">electoral strategy<\/a>. If you hate America&rsquo;s current voters, as Democrats do, simply import new ones.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, elected Democrats have to realize that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-vows-invoke-1798-law-handle-illegals-part-largest-deportation-operation-us-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> campaigned and won on mass deportations.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, few elected Democrats seem as vulnerable to defeat as does Hochul. Last month, in fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.morningconsult.com\/trackers\/governor-approval-ratings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Morning Consult<\/a> described the New York governorship as &ldquo;in play for Republicans next year if she retains the Democratic nomination for 2026.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.presidency.ucsb.edu\/statistics\/elections\/2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2020 election<\/a>, former President Joe Biden carried New York state by more than 23 percentage points. Trump, however, shaved that margin nearly in half during his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.presidency.ucsb.edu\/statistics\/elections\/2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2024 election<\/a> victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris.<\/p>\n<p>One hopes, of course, for the country&rsquo;s sake, that Hochul and her stubborn Democratic colleagues will yield.
