The OSC&#8217;s complaint details two counts against Washington: engaging in political activity while on duty \u200cand using her \u200bofficial position to influence the outcome of \u200can election. The directive to disregard homes with Trump signage, issued from \u2062October 22 to \u200dat least October \u200b26, contradicted her claims\u2064 of safety \u200bconcerns, as\u2063 there were no reported incidents or safety issues associated with thes properties. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/25520661-25\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">complaint<\/a> filed on Tuesday recommends disciplinary action against Washington.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;OSC brings this Complaint because Washington showed bias against supporters of a candidate for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-republican-rep-jody-hice-demands-answers-from-defense-sec-lloyd-austin-over-removal-of-space-force-officer\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: Republican Rep. Jody Hice Demands Answers From Defense Sec. Lloyd Austin Over Removal Of Space Force ...r\">partisan political office<\/a> while Washington was overseeing federal government personnel performing disaster relief work,&rdquo; the complaint states. &ldquo;Specifically, Washington instructed subordinate government employees to &ldquo;avoid homes advertising Trump&rdquo; when canvassing neighborhoods to assist survivors of Hurricane Milton.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Several of OSC&rsquo;s findings in the complaint contradict the statements Washington made to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3225155\/fema-supervisor-who-told-team-to-avoid-homes-with-trump-signs-speaks-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">her first interview<\/a> after her anti-Trump directive was exposed to the public. Her testimony in that interview was cited in former Florida Attorney General Sen. Ashley Moody&rsquo;s (R-FL) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/investigations\/3230594\/fema-officials-sued-by-florida-attorney-general\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">lawsuit<\/a> against Washington and FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell.<\/p>\n<p>Washington claimed in interviews with news outlets, including the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>, that her directive was in response to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/aoc-celebrates-anti-israel-campus-protests-during-event-with-biden\/\" title=\"AOC Commends Anti-Israel Protests at Event with Biden\">safety concerns due<\/a> to death threats at houses with Trump campaign signage. However, the complaint states that this is impossible because her crew hadn&rsquo;t even begun canvassing at the time.<\/p>\n<p>She <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3225155\/fema-supervisor-who-told-team-to-avoid-homes-with-trump-signs-speaks-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">demanded<\/a> that FEMA &ldquo;turn over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fema-supervisor-who-said-to-avoid-pro-trump-homes-speaks-out-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"... who said to &#039;avoid&#039; pro-Trump homes speaks out- ...\">incident reports&#038;rdquo<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">showing hostile encounters<\/a> took place on the streets she directed her team to avoid. However, the complaint states that there were &ldquo;no reports in Highlands County of safety concerns at properties with Trump 2024 campaign signs.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The complaint states that not only did no member of her crew make any report of safety concerns at a property with Trump campaign signage, but not even Washington&rsquo;s own daily summary reports noted a single incident.<\/p>\n<p>According to the complaint, Washington first directed her crew to avoid houses with Trump campaign signage on Oct. 22, 2024, and continued to do so until at least Oct. 26. Numerous crew members reported skipping over Trump-supporting houses over the next week. On Oct. 29, Washington told a FEMA manager that her team has registered Trump supporters but avoided &ldquo;the Trump supporters that have signage stating they&rsquo;ll shoot us onsite.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After FEMA received conclusive evidence that Washington directed her team to avoid houses with Trump campaign signage, the complaint states that FEMA demobilized her on or about Nov. 7, and fired her on or about Nov. 9.<\/p>\n<p>Washington has claimed that she was a &ldquo;patsy&rdquo; and a &ldquo;scapegoat,&rdquo; that the decision to avoid Trump-supporting homes came from above, and that such conduct was more widespread than just her team.
