Eli Crane (R-AZ) followed through by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2025\/02\/12\/eli-crane-to-introduce-articles-of-impeachment-against-judge-blocking-doge-audit-of-treasury-payments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"introducing\">introducing<\/a> articles of impeachment against Paul Engelmayer, a New York-based Obama appointee who issued a restraining order preventing DOGE from accessing Treasury Department payment systems. <\/p>\n<p>Other Republicans have joined in the effort, with Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ingrahamangle\/status\/1889522443968020660?s=51&amp;t=oYTIYwEqmPpaQCOEPM8xZA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"telling\">telling<\/a> Fox News host Laura Ingraham that &ldquo;Congress must act.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We need laws that make Trump&rsquo;s executive orders permanent,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;We should be backing his agenda, not letting judges sabotage it.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BasedMikeLee\/status\/1889532479071019513\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"posted\">posted<\/a> on X, &ldquo;If judges can disrupt the political process without authority, and if Congress does nothing when that happens, our constitutional order will be badly weakened.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Democrats, meanwhile, celebrate the rulings and charge that Trump is the one causing a constitutional crisis through his aggressive actions.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The president of the United States cannot seize control of spending, nor can he eliminate departments,&rdquo; Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said. &ldquo;With every day, there comes a new challenge to the Constitution.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s a sharp reversal from just a few months ago, when Democrats were complaining that unelected federal judges on the Supreme Court were usurping the will of the people and legislating from the bench. <\/p>\n<p>Ever since Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) refused to fill the Supreme Court seat left open by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia in 2016, ultimately leading to the confirmation of conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch the following year, the political Left has been in open revolt against the high court.<\/p>\n<p>When the Supreme Court heard arguments in an abortion-related case in 2020, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) issued what appeared to be public threats against two justices. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, [Justice Brett] Kavanaugh,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;You have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/1529958\/you-will-pay-the-price-schumer-threatens-kavanaugh-and-gorsuch-as-supreme-court-hears-abortion-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"released the whirlwind\">released the whirlwind<\/a> and you will pay the price. You won&rsquo;t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Democratic blowback against the court included a series of ethics investigations regarding right-leaning members Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, during which Senate Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/4335581-senate-gop-stages-hearing-walkout-to-protest-supreme-court-related-subpoenas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"walked out\">walked out<\/a> of a hearing that attempted to subpoena a conservative activist and donor. <\/p>\n<p>But it was Trump&rsquo;s predecessor, President Joe Biden, who turned up the heat against the high court.<\/p>\n<p>When the justices <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/1533584\/supreme-court-strikes-down-bidens-costly-student-loan-relief-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"struck down\">struck down<\/a> his $400 billion student loan forgiveness plan, Biden moved forward anyway, saying explicitly that he was acting in defiance of the court.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Supreme Court tried to block me from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-begs-americans-to-respect-justice-system-days-after-bragging-about-skirting-scotus-ruling\/\" title=\"Biden Urges Respect for Justice System Following Boast of Bypassing SCOTUS Decision\">relieving student debt<\/a>. But they didn&rsquo;t stop me,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3024651\/biden-mocked-justice-trump-ignore-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"he said\">he said<\/a> last year. &ldquo;I&rsquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-mocked-for-touting-justice-for-trump-while-ignoring-supreme-court\/\" title=\"Criticism of Biden for prioritizing justice for ... over ... issues\">ve relieved student debt<\/a> for over 5 million Americans.
