WHEN AMERICA IS STRONG, THE WORLD IS AT PEACE.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>While the trade sounds like an <em>Art of the Deal<\/em> maneuver, the swap was a bespoke incentive cooked up by Zelensky&rsquo;s camp to win Trump&rsquo;s support.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If we are talking about a deal, then let&rsquo;s do a deal,&rdquo; Zelensky told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/zelenskiy-says-lets-do-deal-offering-trump-mineral-partnership-seeking-security-2025-02-07\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><em>Reuters<\/em><\/a>  last week.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration is claiming that the Ukrainian government is essentially committed to trading $500 billion in rare earth minerals for aid ending Russia&rsquo;s invasion.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;You can come up with a deal, and that&rsquo;s what [Trump] has the Treasury looking at: &lsquo;OK, how do you make a deal where aid is predicated off of the payback [of] precious metals?&rsquo;&rdquo; retired Gen. Keith Kellogg, U.S. special envoy, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/02\/07\/us-news\/trump-wants-a-deal-for-ukraines-natural-resources-as-payback-in-exchange-for-aid-stopping-russia-attack-envoy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">told the <\/a><em><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/02\/07\/us-news\/trump-wants-a-deal-for-ukraines-natural-resources-as-payback-in-exchange-for-aid-stopping-russia-attack-envoy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">New York Post<\/a> <\/em>last week.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine is rich in a variety of highly valuable minerals sought by the United States, including lithium, titanium, nickel, lanthanum, neodymium, cerium, cobalt, graphite, and more. All the sacrifice went to no one,&rdquo; Kellogg said. &ldquo;So I think the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-taking-regeneron-drug-remdesivir-therapy-for-coronavirus-diagnosis-ex-wh-doctor-explains\/\" title=\"... taking Regeneron drug, Remdesivir therapy for coronavirus diagnosis: ex-WH doctor explains\">president<\/a> is taking an economical look: &lsquo;If you want to do this, there&rsquo;s got to be something good for the American people,&rsquo; and that&rsquo;s how he&rsquo;s looking at it.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Bessent will be hoping to iron out the details of this arrangement while in Kyiv this week &mdash; and Trump has indicated that he&rsquo;s willing to play hardball on getting it signed promptly.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;[Ukraine] may make a deal, they may not make a deal.
