It was full of &ldquo;grrrl-power,&rdquo; and the social media reaction showed it fell flatter than Patrick Mahomes in an Eagles pass rush.<\/p>\n<p>For non-Super Bowl viewers, or those who had better things to do at that particular point of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/super-bowl-crowd-reactions-trump-taylor-swift-tell-everything-need-know-post-woke-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sunday&rsquo;s &ldquo;contest&rdquo;<\/a> between the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles (the 40-22 thumping wasn&rsquo;t even as close as that score implies) the ad is below:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The NFL&rsquo;s girls flag football commercial could hardly be more out of touch. As Adweek noted, among them were former NFL kicker and punter Pat McAfee, a current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/espns-pat-mcafee-shills-taylor-swift-says-needs-super-bowl-ring-bizarre-segment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESPN commentator<\/a> with generally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-hannity-goes-off-espns-pat-mcafee-caitlin-clark-backlash-horrible-host\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESPN politics<\/a>) and former running back Marshawn Lynch &mdash; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/anti-trump-ex-nfl-star-marshawn-lynch-fire-allegedly-cussing-children-using-sexist-language\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">who&rsquo;s no favorite<\/a> of fans of President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>It has women&rsquo;s flag football players, including one from the national team, according to Adweek. (Three bonus points to any reader who was aware there even <em>was<\/em> a national flag football team.)<\/p>\n<p>The problem is, the ad itself makes it clear that flag football is not &ldquo;football&rdquo; by any stretch.<\/p>\n<p>And social media users noticed:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Girls are better at football than boys. (The WNBA has a better argument that it can compete with the NBA &mdash; and it can&rsquo;t. And it couldn&rsquo;t, even if every team had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/caitlin-clark-breaks-another-wnba-record-wild-fashion-shows-haters-beginning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Caitlin Clark<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>That isn&rsquo;t to say there isn&rsquo;t a place for the game of flag football. It&rsquo;s got a spot in the 2028 Olympics, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/10\/16\/sport\/flag-football-2028-summer-olympics-los-angeles-spt-intl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a> reported in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>And why not? It&rsquo;s never going to replace women&rsquo;s beach volleyball &mdash; <em>nothing<\/em> will ever replace women&rsquo;s beach volleyball &mdash; but it&rsquo;s certainly not going to hurt anything.
