The directives specifically order the termination of all &ldquo;diversity, equity, and inclusion,&rdquo; or <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/dei\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DEI<\/a>, programs, positions, and policies, which often prioritize an individual&rsquo;s characteristics such as race and sex over merit. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-350442858\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Last week, it was <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7212911\/west-point-disbands-cadet-clubs-affinity-groups-trump-dei-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> that West Point, the U.S. Army&rsquo;s academy, disbanded roughly a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">dozen identity-based clubs<\/a> in compliance with the president&rsquo;s DEI orders. The organizations terminated <a href=\"https:\/\/fox59.com\/news\/national-world\/a-dozen-west-point-cadet-clubs-ordered-to-disband-all-others-paused\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">due<\/a> to their affiliation with the school&rsquo;s former DEI office included the Society of Black Engineers at West Point, the Asian-Pacific Forum Club, the pro-LGBT club Spectrum, and others. <\/p>\n<p>When pressed on whether the Naval Academy would be taking similar actions to ensure compliance with Trump&rsquo;s orders barring DEI, a Naval Academy representative told The Federalist that the school &ldquo;is committed to implementing all Executive Orders in alignment with the Department of Defense and the Department of the Navy,&rdquo; and that a schoolwide analysis of existing clubs is underway. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are reviewing all clubs and extracurricular activities to ensure alignment with applicable Executive Orders and will provide updated implementation guidance as needed,&rdquo; the representative said. <\/p>\n<p>The Naval Academy currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usna.edu\/Admissions\/Student-Life\/ECAs.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lists<\/a> several identity-based clubs on its website, including the Midshipmen Black Studies Club, Society of Women Engineers, Italian-American Midshipmen Club, and more. <\/p>\n<p>No Naval Academy clubs have been disbanded as of this article&rsquo;s publication, according to the school representative. <\/p>\n<p>A late January memo sent to academy staff by Superintendent Yvette Davids and later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/naval-academy-closing-dei-offices-align-trump-executive-orders-memo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> by Fox News revealed that the school is &ldquo;taking steps to close all agency Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) offices and end all DEIA-related contracts in accordance with President Trump&rsquo;s executive orders.&rdquo; As described by the outlet, the academy noted that &ldquo;it has not had a DEI office since at least the summer of 2024 &hellip; &nbsp;and that no office has been closed as a result of the executive order.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong>[READ:[READ:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/08\/30-year-naval-academy-teacher-details-depth-of-dei-rot-in-americas-military-institutions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">30-Year Naval Academy Teacher Details Depth Of DEI Rot In America&rsquo;s Military Institutions<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Naval Academy has notably faced accusations of unlawfully using race in its school admissions policies. <\/p>\n<p>In a lawsuit <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/10\/06\/lawsuit-u-s-naval-academys-consideration-of-race-in-its-admissions-process-is-unconstitutional\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed<\/a> against the academy in October 2023, the organization known as Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) alleged, as <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20231011231538\/https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/10\/05\/group-sues-naval-academy-race-admissions-00120265?utm_source=sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=mil-ebb&amp;SToverlay=342f5a58-c37b-4142-b049-1f737335b507\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">summarized<\/a> by Politico, that the Naval Academy is violating applicants&rsquo; Fifth Amendment rights by &ldquo;engaging in racial balancing in their admissions of new classes.&rdquo; The group specifically claimed that the school is discriminating against applicants who are white and Asian in favor of those who are black, Hispanic, and Native American.<\/p>\n<p>SFFA is the group that brought lawsuits against Harvard and the University of North Carolina&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/as-supreme-court-hears-challenge-against-race-based-college-admissions-joe-biden-wants-race-based-supreme-court-nominee\/\" title=\"As ... Hears Challenge Against ...-Based College Admissions, Joe Biden Wants ...-Based ... Nominee\">race-based admissions policies<\/a> to the U.S. Supreme Court several years ago. While the high court&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/29\/scotus-rules-race-based-college-admissions-violate-the-14th-amendment-ending-affirmative-action\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sided<\/a>&nbsp;with SFFA and ruled that the aforementioned universities&rsquo; consideration of applicants&rsquo; race during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-unveil-legislation-to-enforce-affirmative-action-ban-strip-funding-from-universities-that-discriminate\/\" title=\"GOP Introduces Bill to Enforce Affirmative Action Ban, Cut Funding from Discriminatory Universities\">admissions process violates<\/a> the 14th Amendment, the decision <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/06\/no-the-supreme-court-did-not-carve-out-a-military-exception-in-race-based-admissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">did not consider<\/a> the use of such affirmative action policies by America&rsquo;s military academies. <\/p>\n<p>A federal judge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidehighered.com\/news\/quick-takes\/2024\/12\/09\/judge-says-naval-academy-can-consider-race-admissions#:~:text=The%20U.S.%20Naval%20Academy%20can,is%20important%20to%20national%20security.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">struck down<\/a> SFFA&rsquo;s lawsuit against the Naval Academy in December 2024, prompting the group to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarkhill.com\/news-events\/news\/federal-court-declines-to-extend-sffa-decision-into-military-academy-admissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">appeal<\/a> the decision to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.  <\/p>\n<p>Monday&rsquo;s revelation came the same day Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/113980013020158273\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> via Truth Social that he has &ldquo;ordered the immediate dismissal of the Board of Visitors for the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard.&rdquo; The president noted how America&rsquo;s &ldquo;Service Academies have been infiltrated by Woke Leftist Ideologues over the last four years&rdquo; and that, &ldquo;We will have the strongest Military in History, and that begins by appointing new individuals to these Boards.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We must make the Military Academies GREAT AGAIN!&rdquo; he added.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Shawn Fleetwood is a staff writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
