This statement came in response\u200b to former President Donald Trump&#8217;s executive orders early in his presidency, which aimed to dismantle DEI initiatives within the federal government. Booker emphasized that such actions are misguided\u2064 and\u200d detrimental, claiming they undermine efforts to\u200b ensure\u2063 fairness and safety in hiring practices.\u200d He criticized the notion that \u2062DEI policies weaken government hiring\u2063 processes, instead asserting that a \u2064broader search enhances the \u2062quality of \u200bhires. First, he ordered all&nbsp;DEI&nbsp;employees to be placed on administrative leave. Then, with another executive order, he gave all&nbsp;DEI&nbsp;offices in the federal government 60 days to close down. Finally, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sunny-hostin-compares-end-of-dei-to-resegregation-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Sunny Hostin compares end of ... to \u2018resegregation\u2019 - Washington Examiner\">reinstated merit-based opportunities<\/a> by repealing several orders from the past, one as far back as 1965 under Lyndon B. These companies will no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/costco-clings-to-dei-as-other-companies-abandon-practice-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Costco clings to ... as other companies abandon practice - Washington Examiner\">longer make hiring<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/starbucks-reverses-open-door-policy-years-after-controversy\/\" title=\"Starbucks reverses open-door policy years after controversy\">firing decisions based<\/a> on race or any other identity while phasing out the phrase &ldquo;DEI.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Donald Trump wants to try to demonize ideas of inclusion, of equity, of fairness, and that is unfortunate and frustrating. And he&lsquo;s using that as a way of ripping out entire aspects of our government that are vital,&rdquo; Booker said. &ldquo;Using terms like DEI as a justification for making us less safe, we should be outraged that organizations and agencies created by Congress in a bipartisan way, have now been torn down by a president who has no authority or does not have the legal justification for doing that.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Booker continued, &ldquo;They want to talk about all these things as a distraction to the truth of what they&lsquo;re doing, which is making us less safe, making government more corrupt, making violating people&lsquo;s privacy, and ultimately, how&lsquo;s that lower costs working for Americans?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Govs. Patrick Morissey (D-WV), Ron DeSantis (R-FL), and Kevin Stitt (R-OK) signed similar orders to eliminate DEI in their respective state governments. More efforts to root out the practice are underway in Kentucky,&nbsp;North Carolina, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska,&nbsp;and Texas.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A renewed debate over DEI heightened when Trump alluded that diversity, equity, and inclusion policies could have had something to do with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3308345\/american-airlines-plane-extraction-potomac-begins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"crash\">crash<\/a> at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport last month.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has not explained the evidence that&nbsp;DEI&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sean-duffy-claims-biden-administration-focused-on-social-justice-over-safety-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Sean Duffy claims Biden administration focused on &#039;social justice&#039; over safety - Washington Examiner\">hiring practices caused<\/a> the crash. Out of the entire Transportation Department, Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed that the Federal Aviation Administration is the only agency that had an active&nbsp;DEI&nbsp;policy until he took office.
