Bowman, a registered Republican, has previously served as the pastor of The River Church, a nondenominational Christian church, for four years and is also the co-owner of the coffee shop Kings Arms Coffee, located in the West End neighborhood of Cincinnati, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cincinnati.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2025\/02\/04\/jd-vance-half-brother-cincinnati-mayor\/78207650007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">according to<\/a> the <em>Cincinnati Enquirer<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Bowman has stated he was inspired by his half-brother&rsquo;s launch into politics and that he had spoken to Vance about his mayoral run in the &ldquo;initial stages.&rdquo; During Vance&rsquo;s inauguration ceremony last month, Bowman stated that nobody cheered louder than him as Vance was sworn in as vice president &ldquo;because he&rsquo;s my brother.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t necessarily speak for my brother because he speaks pretty well for himself,&rdquo; Bowman said. &ldquo;And he&rsquo;s doing well. I will say that he&rsquo;s an incredible role model of mine.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Cincinnati mayoral candidates need at least 500 signatures on their petitions to run for mayor, with the deadline to reach the needed signatures being Feb. 20.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Incumbent Mayor Aftab Pureval announced last month that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcpo.com\/news\/government\/local-politics\/cincinnati-mayor-aftab-pureval-announces-re-election-bid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">he is seeking reelection<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prior to becoming President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Donald Trump&rsquo;s<\/a> vice president, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/1802083\/midterm-results-jd-vance-defeats-tim-ryan-in-ohio-senate-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Vance won the 2022 Ohio Senate race<\/a> against former Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH).
