A Washington court struck down a local ordinance on gun storage in February 2021, and a&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/issues\/pa-judge-throws-out-pittsburgh-gun-control-measures\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Pennsylvania court struck down<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;Pittsburgh&#8217;s attempt to regulate the use of AR-15s inside city limits in&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">October<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Jon Caldara, a longtime Boulder resident who openly flouted the AR-15 ban, said he was &#8220;thrilled&#8221; by the ruling. The former <em>Denver Post<\/em> columnist and Independence Institute president&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/issues\/columnist-says-he-wont-comply-with-colorado-towns-gun-ban\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">publicly announced<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;he would not comply with the order to turn over his AR-15 or ammunition magazines when the ban was instituted in 2019. He filed a separate federal suit against the ordinance and said his family has received backlash from supporters ever since.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8220;I was probably the most publicly known criminal in Boulder,&#8221; he told the&nbsp;<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Washington Free Beacon.<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;&#8220;That made us social outcasts.&nbsp;And it was really bad. So, what I love about this ruling is it forces Boulder to live up to its stated pride of inclusivity and tolerance.&#8221;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Caldara said his federal case will likely be made redundant now that the state struck down the city&#8217;s ban.
