Vacancies in certain parts of the CIA could jeopardize foreign intelligence gathering.<\/p>\n<p>The deferred retirement offered by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Trump<\/a> administration would give an employee eight months of pay and benefits. The offer comes as part of an effort to slim down the government and cut positions within a variety of departments and agencies.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate recently confirmed new CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/politics\/national-security\/the-cia-is-about-to-get-a-trump-makeover-16fc0cbf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> report<\/a> soon came out alleging that the agency was cleaning house. The agency didn&rsquo;t deny the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Director Ratcliffe is moving swiftly to ensure the CIA workforce is responsive to the Administration&rsquo;s national security priorities,&rdquo; a CIA spokesperson told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. &ldquo;These moves are part of a holistic strategy to infuse the Agency with renewed energy, provide opportunities for rising leaders to emerge, and better position the CIA to deliver on its mission.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Ratcliffe promised that the agency would prioritize adversaries such as drug cartels and China&nbsp;in his confirmation hearing. &ldquo;To the brave CIA officers listening around the world, if all of that sounds like what you signed up for, then buckle up and get ready to make a difference,&rdquo; he told lawmakers last month. &ldquo;If it doesn&rsquo;t, then it&rsquo;s time to find a new line of work.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> reported the CIA &ldquo;is also freezing the hiring of job seekers already given a conditional offer&rdquo; and that some offers are &ldquo;likely to be rescinded,&rdquo; attributing the info to a Ratcliffe aide.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">CLICK HERE TO REA<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\"><strong>D MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Federal government workers have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3310739\/federal-employees-opting-deferred-resignations-below-white-house-goals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">more skeptical <\/a>of the deferment offer than the White House expected, but thousands have still taken the offer to resign for the near yearlong paid leave.<\/p>\n<p>Elon Musk, leader of the Department of Government Efficiency, is aiming to cut up to $2 trillion in government spending.
