The District of Columbia chief medical examiner said 66 of the 67 remains recovered have been positively identified.<\/p>\n<p>The medical examiner is still trying to positively identify the last set of remains. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our hearts are with the victims&rsquo; families as they navigate this tragic loss,&rdquo; recovery operation officials said in a statement. &ldquo;We extend our deepest condolences and remain committed to supporting them through this difficult time.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The officials noted that the recovery of the remains &ldquo;marks a significant step in bringing closure to the families and the community.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>At least 10 sets of remains, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5dc.com\/news\/all-67-victims-remains-recovered-from-dc-plane-crash-site-official?taid=67a2754753b72900011a851e&amp;utm_campaign=trueanthem&amp;utm_medium=trueanthem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">including<\/a> those of&nbsp;American Airlines flight attendant Ian Epstein, have been returned to the families, according to Fox 5 DC. Other victims aboard the plane include ice skaters, coaches, and families coming from the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Wichita, Kansas, where the flight originated.<\/p>\n<p>Three Army members, Capt. Rebecca Lobach, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Andrew Loyd Eaves, and Staff Sgt. Ryan Austin O&rsquo;Hara, were aboard the helicopter.<\/p>\n<p>Officials are still trying to remove the wreckage from the Potomac River, focusing on the Bombardier CRJ-700 series aircraft and then the military helicopter later this week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Col. Francis B. Pera of the Army Corps of Engineers said salvage crews were able to pull one of the two jet engines from the river Monday, along with large pieces of the plane&rsquo;s exterior.
