Accusing your political enemy of a coup tends to kill the mood.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Before escaping in November with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailycardinal.com\/article\/2024\/11\/baldwin-narrowly-wins-reelection-bid-against-republican-eric-hovde\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">narrowest victory<\/a> of her <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Tammy_Baldwin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">long congressional career<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/member\/tammy-baldwin\/B001230\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sen. Tammy Baldwin<\/a>, D-Wis., seemed to be cozying up a bit with then- GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump. Politics do make the strangest of bedfellows, and was there anything stranger than watching Wisconsin&rsquo;s far-left junior senator, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elle.com\/culture\/career-politics\/a61241277\/tammy-baldwin-senate-wisconsin-race-interview-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">very open and vocal lesbian<\/a> and hero to the LGBTQ\/DEI establishment, court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/09\/24\/us\/politics\/tammy-baldwin-josh-shapiro-trump-voters-wisconsin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;Trump-Tammy voters&rdquo;<\/a> by selling common ground on an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/01\/america-first-trade-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">America First program<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Desperate times called for desperate measures. Baldwin was <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/wisconsin-senate-race-toss-up-tammy-baldwins-slip-cook-political-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">slipping in the polls<\/a> late in the campaign. She saw the writing on the wall, and the writing screamed that far-left candidates were generally out of fashion in 2024. So, as she has long done on the campaign trail, Baldwin pretended to be what she has never been: a moderate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After her sweat-it-out victory, Baldwin pledged to work with the newly elected Trump and work toward a kinder, gentler political environment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We deserve a politics with less vitriol, less division, less hatred and fewer lies. Actually, no lies,&rdquo; the Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/chicago\/news\/tammy-baldwin-trump-wisconsin-senate-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> her supporters on election night at a steamfitters union training center.<\/p>\n<p>Baldwin was back at the vitriol on Monday &mdash; taking aim at Trump.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t know what this transition is going to lead to, but it&rsquo;s looking more like a coup than a transition right now,&rdquo; the leftist said following a tour of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisbusiness.com\/2025\/u-s-sen-baldwin-talks-tackling-opioid-epidemic-threat-of-potential-funding-cut-at-uw-madison-opioid-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Opioid Overdose Response Center<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Democratic U.S. Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenatorBaldwin?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SenatorBaldwin<\/a> said President Trump&#8217;s return to the White House &#8220;is looking more like a coup than a transition right now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She called on Republicans to join Democrats in Congress in pushing back against Trump. We know Dems have had a hard time with the vocabulary quiz. They&rsquo;ve been known to mess up the definition of <a href=\"https:\/\/imprimis.hillsdale.edu\/january-6-insurrection-hoax\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;insurrection,&rdquo;<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/10\/kamala-harris-is-the-border-czar-who-broke-the-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;border&rdquo;<\/a> is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasattorneygeneral.gov\/news\/releases\/attorney-general-ken-paxton-sues-biden-administration-over-unlawful-parole-place-policy-incentivizes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tricky concept<\/a> for them. But<em> coup<\/em>? A coup directed through a free and fair election in which Trump dominated in the electoral college, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox9.com\/news\/election-results-popular-vote-kamala-harris-donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">won the popular vote<\/a>, and took all seven swing states. Oh, yes. It&rsquo;s the process of free and fair elections that&rsquo;s foreign to the left.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I guess Senator Baldwin is overlooking the election President Trump won in the electoral college and with the popular vote because Democrats screwed things up so badly,&rdquo; Baldwin&rsquo;s Republican colleague, Wisconsin senior Sen. Ron Johnson, told The Federalist Monday afternoon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to Baldwin, the duly elected president&rsquo;s coup stems from his &ldquo;unconstitutional&rdquo; use of executive authority to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.badgerinstitute.org\/founding-fathers-would-cheer-trump-administrations-concern-about-federal-grants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pause federal grants and loans<\/a> while the Trump Administration weighs continuing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-american-families-plan-is-far-from-a-new-deal-economic-boon\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s \u2018American Families Plan\u2019 Is Far From a New Deal Economic Boon\">federal government spending<\/a> that at best is useless, or worse, toxic, or worst, actually unconstitutional. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/OMB-Memo-for-Executive-Departments-and-Agencies-01.27.2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pause-and- review process<\/a> is aimed at &ldquo;financial assistance for foreign aid, nongovernmental organizations, DEI, woke gender ideology, and the green new deal.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>According to CBS58 in Milwaukee, UW-Madison last week issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/federalrelations.wisc.edu\/2025\/01\/30\/provost-vcfa-wednesday-update-on-federal-funding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hiring freeze<\/a> on positions funded by federal aid following Trump&rsquo;s directives. On Monday, Baldwin called the executive orders an &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-the-democrats-election-heist-too-big-to-fail\/\" title=\"Is the ...s\u2019 Election Heist \u2018Too Big to Fail\u2019?\">illegal power grab<\/a>,&rdquo; again showing her struggle with the language. Or at least her partisan ambiguity. Not once did the junior senator describe Trump&rsquo;s Democratic predecessor&rsquo;s long line of truly abusive<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/us-supreme-court-dealt-biden-historic-series-defeats-2025-01-18\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> executive actions<\/a> as illegal power grabs. But then again, she did vote with Biden about <a href=\"https:\/\/wisconsinwatch.org\/2023\/04\/is-wisconsins-tammy-baldwin-rated-one-of-the-most-liberal-members-of-the-us-senate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">96 percent<\/a> of the time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Congressman Bryan Steil, a Republican who represents Wisconsin&rsquo;s 1st Congressional District, found Baldwin&rsquo;s use of &ldquo;coup&rdquo; curious.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I do think it&rsquo;s appropriate to make sure that all federal government spending is reviewed and that we determine it&rsquo;s a good use of taxpayer dollars,&rdquo; Steil <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs58.com\/news\/balwin-tours-uw-opioid-center-amid-funding-freeze-concerns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told <\/a>CBS58.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yes. It&rsquo;s not only reasonable to make sure taxpayer dollars are being spent appropriately and constitutionally, it&rsquo;s the job of the three co-equal branches of government to do so. It&rsquo;s a job congress in particular has often abdicated.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s not a coup, that&rsquo;s the law. But Democrats, with their strange way of defining things and their loose relationship with law and order, can&rsquo;t help but mix up the terms.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>A True Coup <\/h2>\n<p>There&rsquo;s been a lot of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boston.com\/news\/national-news\/2025\/02\/03\/bc-historian-calls-elon-musks-accessing-of-u-s-private-financial-data-a-coup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coup talk<\/a> going around these days from the left. Google the word and up pops <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/elon-musk-and-the-21st-century-coup-at-the-treasury-department-what-could-happen-next-3dd74797\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the same story <\/a>with a similar headline from corporate media. The theme is the takeover of democracy by Trump, Elon Musk and the DOGE &mdash; the White House&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/01\/establishing-and-implementing-the-presidents-department-of-government-efficiency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Government Efficiency<\/a> charged with cutting spending and streamlining the federal government. From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/technology\/archive\/2025\/02\/elon-musk-bureaucratic-coup\/681559\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Atlantic<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/economy\/2025\/2\/4\/elon-musk-accused-of-coup-running-shadow-govt-as-doge-tightens-grip\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Al Jazeera<\/a>, the headlines scream coup accusations. By design, of course.<\/p>\n<p>The same publications were mostly silent about the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/21\/if-biden-cannot-run-for-office-then-he-cannot-remain-in-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">actual coup<\/a> last summer. The Democratic National Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texaspolicy.com\/the-democrats-disenfranchised-voters-by-switching-candidates-opinion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disregarded and disenfranchised<\/a> millions of primary voters and forced Biden out of the presidential race when it appeared clear he could not beat Trump. The accomplice media gladly <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4837002-biden-allies-push-back-trumps-coup-claims\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ran interference<\/a> for Biden&rsquo;s stand-in, Vice President Kamala Harris, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">big-monied power interests<\/a> that crowned her the nominee without challenge. No one should be surprised. The accomplice media has trouble with the meaning of words, too. After all, they declared Trump was a threat to democracy while his opponents were dismantling the pillars of this federal democratic republic &mdash; justice, due process, free speech, etc. &mdash; to stop the Republican Party nominee from holding the office again.<\/p>\n<p>Picking up on the recent memo from Democrat leadership to amp up the fight against Trump (<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/31\/the-violent-dems-turning-up-the-heat-in-escalating-war-on-trump\/?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=the-violent-dems-turning-up-the-heat-in-escalating-war-on-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">street fights included<\/a>), Baldwin called on Republicans to push back against the president on the grant freeze. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/republicans-largely-back-trump-attempted-federal-aid-freeze-rcna189682\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A few have<\/a>, and some more undoubtedly will, because they&rsquo;re politicians that hold a loose relationship with conservative, limited-government values. They, too, have had a hard time with definitions, like <em>fiscal constraint<\/em>, <em>business as usual<\/em>, the <em>Deep State<\/em>, and <em>the Swamp<\/em>. American voters, however, know the language. They know what they&rsquo;ve lived through thanks to business as usual in the Deep State and the Swamp. They know exactly what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dictionary.com\/browse\/primarying\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">primaried<\/a> means. And in November they gave the left a lesson in <em>throw the bums out<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Or, in the lexicon of Sen.
