Kelly, a former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/navy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Navy<\/a> pilot, assessed that the crash was a &ldquo;tragic and sad accident,&rdquo; adding that it is rarely &ldquo;one thing&rdquo; that causes such an accident to happen.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve been involved in accident investigations, particularly like with space shuttle Columbia, you know, as an example, that we lost in 2003,&rdquo; Kelly said on NBC&rsquo;s <em>Meet the Press<\/em>. &ldquo;And, to say that it has to do with the person&rsquo;s color of their skin or their gender, I think that&rsquo;s just poor leadership. And especially at a time where any president is supposed to be the consoler in chief and not the person that&rsquo;s going to try to divide us as a country, especially when you don&rsquo;t have the appropriate information, and he clearly does not have the information in this case. This is too early in the investigation.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 640px; max-height: 360px; min-width: 320px; min-height: 180px; overflow: hidden;\">\n<div style=\"position: relative; width: 100%; padding-top: 56.25%;\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/share.grabien.com\/share.php?id=2784164&amp;userid=11311&amp;loginid=9421&amp;playercolor=%23000000&amp;playersize=auto&amp;code=9a28dd101086425c85501b0083ec1ad9\" style=\"position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; border: 0px;\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Kelly concluded that the National Transportation Safety Board would conduct a &ldquo;thorough&rdquo; investigation into this crash, and the cause of it would eventually be discovered.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jd-vance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">JD Vance<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3308084\/vance-trump-dei-hiring-practices-dc-plane-crash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">defended Trump&rsquo;s comments<\/a>, arguing that the president &ldquo;wasn&rsquo;t blaming anybody.&rdquo; Rather, Trump was instead pointing to how diversity policies caused the Federal Aviation Administration to turn down qualified candidates, which has led &ldquo;our air traffic controllers to be short-staffed.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, the NTSB revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3308016\/ntsb-american-airlines-pilot-last-minute-maneuver-avoid-crash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">the pilot of the plane may have seen the incoming danger and attempted to move the plane upward<\/a> to avoid the crash.
