Without this massive subsidy, Canada ceases to exist as a viable Country.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/finance-and-economy\/3242203\/what-items-affected-trump-tariffs-canada-mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PRICES ON THESE ITEMS COULD BE AFFECTED BY TRUMP TARIFFS ON MEXICO, CANADA<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Trump announced he was implementing a 25% <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/tariffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">tax<\/a> on all goods from Mexico and Canada, with a 10% tariff on energy.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&rsquo;s Truth Social post this morning comes the same day Canadian Ambassador Kirsten Hillman argued during an appearance on ABC News&rsquo;s <em>This Week<\/em> that the U.S. is heavily reliant on Canada for energy.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We provide the United States with almost all of the hydro and about a third of the oil that you import and use, so&nbsp; 80% of the oil that you import and use, but almost all of the electricity,&rdquo; Hillman said&nbsp; &ldquo;So, let&rsquo;s do more, right? This is our view. A third of your Uranium comes from Canada.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Hillman said she remained hopeful that Trump valued its trade relations with Canada despite his most recent tariff.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&ldquo;We are keen to continue to sell those into the United States, and to to work, to even do more, but it&rsquo;s hard to maintain that sense of common purpose and moving forward, if we get into this kind of a dynamic on tariffs,&rdquo; Hillman said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, former Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, who is a contender to replace Canadian Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Justin-Trudeau\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Justin Trudeau<\/a>, slammed Trump&rsquo;s orders as a &ldquo;betrayal.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This action is utter madness,&rdquo; Freeland said during an appearance on CNN&rsquo;s <em>Fareed Zakaria GPS<\/em>. &ldquo;It is a betrayal of America&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">closest friend &#038;mdash<\/a>; your ally, your neighbor, your best partner in the whole world.
