<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/j9pWs1QroL\">pic.twitter.com\/j9pWs1QroL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealSaavedra\/status\/1850675339397067100?\">October 27, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>  A $2 trillion annual haircut would indeed be about the size of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-budget-deficit-tops-1-6-trillion-amid-lower-tax-revenue-higher-spending\/\" title=\"US budget deficit exceeds .6 trillion due to reduced taxes and increased spending.\">current budget deficit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For further context, saving the federal government $3 billion per day would amount to $2 trillion in cost savings not in a single year, but in just under two years.<\/p>\n<p>If DOGE were to start saving $3 billion as of tomorrow, it would save just under $4.5 trillion over the entire duration of the second Trump presidency.<\/p>\n<p>To summarize, $3 billion in daily federal budget cuts would be very welcome, but it would still not approach what voters were promised.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, however, DOGE itself seems to acknowledge that the current spending cut levels are just the &ldquo;start,&rdquo;
