This crash\u2063 marked the \u200bfirst \u2062fatal accident \u200dfor the CRJ-700 model in over 20 years,\u2064 with \u206260 \u2063passengers and \u2063four crew members presumed dead, along with three military personnel \u2064aboard the \u2063helicopter. Despite having experienced 93 other incidents since its introduction in 2001, none \u200chad resulted in \u2063fatalities prior too\u2063 this event. None of them had any fatalities until the 94th on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The plane model&rsquo;s last <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-child-actor-austin-majors-death-caused-by-fentanyl\/\" title=\"Austin Majors, a former child actor, died due to Fentanyl.\">incident occurred earlier<\/a> this month, which was a loss of cabin pressure that forced the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lehighvalleynews.com\/transportation-news\/flight-from-abe-to-chicago-loses-cabin-pressure-diverts-to-detroit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">plane to descend<\/a>, but it resulted in no injuries. Only two other incidents occurred in 2024, a bird strike and a lightning strike of the aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>The last event that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/australia-protesters-shout-let-it-burn-as-old-parliament-house-goes-up-in-flames\/\" title=\"Australia: Protesters Shout &#039;Let It Burn&#039; as Old Parliament House Goes Up in Flames\">caused substantial damage<\/a> to a CRJ-700 series aircraft before Wednesday was in September 2019, when <a href=\"https:\/\/asn.flightsafety.org\/wikibase\/319336\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">two<\/a> of the same aircraft collided while on the ground at Chicago&rsquo;s O&rsquo;Hare airport. There were no injuries but there was significant damage to the aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>The Bombardier CRJ-700 series is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/travel\/advice\/worlds-safest-and-least-safe-aircraft-models-boeing-airbus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">regarded<\/a> as safer than common commercial aircraft modes such as the Airbus A310 and most common aircraft such as the Boeing 737, 747, and 757.<\/p>\n<p>The CRJ-700 <a href=\"http:\/\/avstop.com\/news_january_2011\/skywest_purchases_four_crj700_nextgen_regional_jets.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">routinely<\/a> holds 70 seats on the aircraft, has a max speed of 556 miles per hour, and a max altitude of 41,000 feet. American Airlines&rsquo;s American Eagle brand commonly uses the Bombardier CRJ-700 series aircraft and the <a href=\"https:\/\/rjet.com\/about\/technology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Embraer E-Jet<\/a> for shorter flights.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The CRJ-700 has been a preferred aircraft for regional airlines and short trips and despite typically being flown by newer commercial pilots, the aircraft has not been involved in any serious accidents until the midair yesterday,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motleyrice.com\/attorneys\/james-r-brauchle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Motley Rice<\/a> Member attorney Jim Brauchle told the <em>Washington Examiner.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The exact plane wrecked in the crash on Wednesday, the Bombardier CRJ-701ER, had three prior incidents. Only one was severe &mdash; the plane <a href=\"https:\/\/asn.flightsafety.org\/wikibase\/319924\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">struck<\/a> a deer with its wing during takeoff at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport in 2017 and had to make an emergency landing. The plane was manufactured in 2004.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The manufacturer of the jet, Canada-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ainonline.com\/aviation-news\/air-transport\/2018-06-26\/bombardier-sees-return-prominence-its-regional-lineup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Bombardier Aviation<\/a>, also produced the plane involved in the last U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-vax-mandates-and-regulatory-red-tape-created-a-critical-airline-pilot-shortage\/\" title=\"How Vax Mandates And Regulatory Red Tape Created A Critical Airline Pilot Shortage\">commercial airplane crash<\/a> in 2009.
