Joe Biden then kept them in place after he came into office.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Tax Foundation, as of March 2024, those tariffs raised <a href=\"https:\/\/taxfoundation.org\/research\/all\/federal\/trump-tariffs-trade-war\/?utm_term=what%20is%20a%20tariff&amp;utm_campaign=Trade+and+Tariffs&amp;utm_source=adwords&amp;utm_medium=ppc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$233 billion<\/a> since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>During the campaign, Trump proposed a new 10 to 20 percent tariff on all goods from all countries coming into the U.S. and increasing them even higher on China from its current 25 percent level.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/taxfoundation.org\/research\/all\/federal\/trump-tariffs-trade-war\/?utm_term=what%20is%20a%20tariff&amp;utm_campaign=Trade+and+Tariffs&amp;utm_source=adwords&amp;utm_medium=ppc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Tax Foundation<\/a> calculated if the plan became law it would generate about $330 billion in revenue per year, increasing to $430 billion by 2033.<\/p>\n<p>In fiscal year 2023, the federal government took in approximately <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/publication\/59730\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$2.2 trillion<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cbo-inflation-caused-by-bidens-2021-stimulus-will-continue\/\" title=\"CBO: Inflation Caused by Biden\u2019s 2021 Stimulus, Will Continue\">individual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">income tax<\/a> revenue<\/a>, so it would not appear that tariffs could completely take the place of the income tax.<\/p>\n<p>However, it seems feasible that they could fund Trump&rsquo;s plans for no tax on tips, overtime, and Social Security.<\/p>\n<p>We&rsquo;ll see what the future holds.
