He categorized the need for the &ldquo;next<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">-generation missile defense shield&#038;rdquo<\/a>; as an integral part of a strong national defense against &ldquo;peer and near-peer adversaries of next-generation delivery systems.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>The president first discussed plans to construct a new weapons defense system while campaigning for president, emphasizing the need for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2811927\/trump-proposes-reviving-reagan-era-star-wars-missile-defense-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;state-of-the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-proposes-reviving-reagan-era-star-wars-missile-defense-program\/\" title=\"Trump suggests bringing back Reagan&#039;s &#039;Star Wars&#039; missile defense plan\">-art missile defense shield made<\/a> in the USA.&rdquo;<\/a> He again mentioned plans for the Iron Dome during a rally in Washington, D.C., the day before his inauguration. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/executive-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">executive order<\/a> made the intention to build the weapon official policy of the Trump administration.<\/p>\n<p>Trump highlighted that the Iron Dome for America was part of his administration&rsquo;s &ldquo;peace through strength&rdquo; policy. The only reference to any time frame was that the secretary of defense must submit a proposal for the American Iron Dome within 60 days. The proposal must include plans to adhere to &ldquo;capabilities-based requirements,&rdquo; architecture plans, and a strategy for implementation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There were no mentions of costs or how long the weapon would take to build.
