However, like those Patriots teams, there is significant controversy regarding the Chiefs’ ongoing success and the influence of referees in their games. This controversy intensified following their narrow 32-29 victory over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game on Sunday. The New York Post captured fan frustration well by stating it’s “hard to fully appreciate Chiefs’ greatness when every questionable call goes their way.”

This sentiment became a major talking point after a game that could lead to historic achievement—no NFL team has won three Super Bowls consecutively, which is now within reach for Kansas City. While this may not please NFL officials, fans seem even more outraged as once again “every questionable call” favored the dominant Chiefs.

One particularly contentious moment occurred in the fourth quarter when Bills quarterback Josh Allen appeared to convert a crucial fourth down but was ruled short after review—a decision that shocked CBS commentators Jim Nantz and Tony Romo. This ruling set up a touchdown drive for Patrick Mahomes and ultimately sealed victory for Kansas City.

Additionally, there were other puzzling officiating decisions during this game, including an uncalled delay of game penalty and an incompletion ruled as a catch despite clear evidence otherwise.
