The Minneapolis Police Department most recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3278595\/minneapolis-approves-police-oversight-plan-federal-government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">entered a consent decree<\/a> with the Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement required its officers to &ldquo;promote the sanctity of human life as the highest priority in their activities&rdquo; and &ldquo;carry out their law enforcement duties with professionalism and respect for the dignity of every person,&rdquo; according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.minneapolismn.gov\/resident-services\/public-safety\/police-public-safety\/investigations-settlement-agreement\/consent-decree\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">171-page agreement<\/a>. The Justice Department, under former President Joe Biden, and the Minneapolis Police Department entered the agreement more than four years after police officer Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd by kneeling on his neck for nine minutes, sparking protests in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/minnesota\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Twin Cities<\/a> and around the globe.<\/p>\n<p>Another order from Mizelle ordered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/civil-rights-attorneys-submit-letter-to-manhattan-da-claiming-nypd-fbi-conspired-in-malcolm-x-assassination\/\" title=\"Civil rights attorneys submit letter to Manhattan DA claiming NYPD, FBI conspired in Malcolm X assassination\">civil rights attorneys<\/a> not to &ldquo;file any new complaints, motions to intervene, agreed-upon remands, amicus briefs, or statements of interest&rdquo; until further notice.<\/p>\n<p>During Trump&rsquo;s first administration, he was critical of police reform agreements as he viewed them as anti-police.
