But here&rsquo;s the catch: Hegseth <em>and<\/em> his ex-wife <em>deny<\/em> the allegations. Still, multiple <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-comms-team-gets-a-pass-where-trump-administration-would-have-had-a-scandal\/\" title=\"Biden Comms Team Gets A Pass Where Trump Administration Would Have Had A Scandal\">left-wing media<\/a> outlets rushed to regurgitate the narrative, making it clear that despite plummeting trust in the media, the propaganda press hasn&rsquo;t learned a thing. Instead, they&rsquo;re back to recycling baseless accusations to advance their political agenda.<\/p>\n<p>NBC News&rsquo; Julie Tsirkin, Sarah Fitzpatrick and Courtney Kobe <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/21\/nbcs-latest-hit-piece-against-pete-hegseth-is-even-dumber-than-you-think\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported on an affidavit<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-democrats-are-usually-blocking-republican-efforts-to-digitally-upload-hunter-bidens-laptop\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: Democrats Are usually Blocking Republican Efforts To Digitally Upload Hunter Biden\u2019s Laptop\">senators reportedly received<\/a> from Danielle Hegseth. Danielle (who Hegseth&rsquo;s lawyers say is an &ldquo;anti-Trump far left Democrat&rdquo;) alleged Hegseth engaged in &ldquo;behavior [that] caused his second wife to fear for her safety.&rdquo; Notably, Danielle admits to never actually witnessing any of this abuse. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-705653624\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Readers who make it to the <em>ninth<\/em> paragraph conveniently learn that Samantha (Hegseth&rsquo;s ex-wife), told NBC News: &ldquo;I do not believe your information to be accurate, and I have cc&rsquo;d my lawyer.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There was no physical abuse in my marriage,&rdquo; Samantha added. The report also acknowledged that both Hegseth and Samantha signed a document in 2021 stating neither &ldquo;claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Surely the fact that both Hegseth <em>and<\/em> the alleged victim &mdash; Samantha &mdash; denied the allegations on several occasions means that such a baseless accusation isn&rsquo;t worth the paper it was printed on, right?<\/p>\n<p>Wrong. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/01\/21\/us\/politics\/hegseth-senators-affidavit.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York Times<\/a> headlined their smear campaign: &ldquo;Hegseth Ex-Sister-in-Law Tells Senators He Was &lsquo;Abusive&rsquo; to Second Wife.&rdquo; The teaser paragraph only states that Hegseth&rsquo;s lawyer denied the allegations &mdash; not that Samantha herself denied the allegations. It took The Times 19 paragraphs to note that Samantha has denied the allegation. <\/p>\n<p>ABC News <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/pete-hegseths-wife-feared-personal-safety-former-sister\/story?id=117959172\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> &ldquo;Pete Hegseth&rsquo;s ex-wife &lsquo;feared for her personal safety,&rsquo; his former sister-in-law says in affidavit.&rdquo; The outlet waited three paragraphs to note Samantha denied the allegations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/01\/21\/politics\/pete-hegseth-affidavit-defense-nominee-trump\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNN<\/a> went with &ldquo;Senate receives affidavit from Pete Hegseth&rsquo;s former sister-in-law accusing him of being &lsquo;abusive&rsquo; toward ex-wife.&rdquo; CNN waited five paragraphs to note that Samantha denied the allegations.  <\/p>\n<p>On the bright side, a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/10\/22\/cratering-trust-in-americas-anti-truth-media-is-healthy-for-society\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gallup survey<\/a> from October found Americans&rsquo; overall <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/02\/poll-more-than-8-in-10-americans-dont-trust-corporate-media-to-report-facts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confidence<\/a> in &ldquo;mass media&rdquo; is on the steep decline following years of hoaxes and smear campaigns pushed by the left-wing media, which means the character assassination only holds so much weight.<\/p>\n<p>November&rsquo;s election made it clear that Americans are fed up with the media&rsquo;s blatant propaganda &mdash; and yet here we are again. As trust in the mainstream left-wing media decreases, it&rsquo;s likely that Americans see this story for what it is &mdash; propaganda to assassinate Hegseth&rsquo;s character and tank his nomination.
