Lt. Gov.\">strengthening election integrity<\/a> by preventing noncitizens from voting. The first, HB 156, requires that qualified voters have \u200bresided in Wyoming for at least 30 days before an election \u2064and prohibits registration if presented identification suggests \u2063non-citizenship without proof of citizenship. The second bill, HB\u2062 157, mandates proof\u2063 of citizenship \u200cfor\u200c voter registration, specifying\u200c acceptable forms of\u200d documentation.Both measures received overwhelming support \u200cin \u200dthe House\u2064 and are now \u200dheaded to the \u2064state Senate for \u2062consideration. Secretary\u2062 of State Chuck Gray emphasized\u2062 that these bills are a top priority for ensuring\u2064 election integrity in Wyoming, and their\u200c passage is \u2063part of a broader agenda to enhance electoral security. Secretary of State Chuck Gray said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/sos.wyo.gov\/Media\/2025\/SoS_Release_2025-01-20.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>. &ldquo;I look forward to continuing to work with the Legislature to achieve meaningful, conservative reform.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-644351704\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wyoleg.gov\/Legislation\/2025\/HB0156\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HB 156<\/a> stipulates that &ldquo;qualified elector[s]&rdquo; must have &ldquo;been a bona fide resident of Wyoming for not less than thirty (30) days before the date of the election at which he offers to vote.&rdquo; The bill also specifies that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-is-michigan-working-with-election-meddler-david-becker\/\" title=\"Why Is Michigan Working With Election Meddler David Becker?\">county clerks &#038;ldquo<\/a>;shall not&rdquo; register an individual to vote &ldquo;if the person&rsquo;s presented identification or proof of residence contains any indication that the person is not a citizen of the United States unless the person also presents proof of citizenship as specified by rule of the secretary of state.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The measure cleared the lower chamber in a 51-8-3 vote, with three lawmakers excused. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wyoleg.gov\/Legislation\/2025\/HB0157\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HB 157<\/a> mandates that individuals must present proof of citizenship when registering to vote in the state. The measure includes specific examples of acceptable documentation, such as a valid Wyoming driver&rsquo;s license and Wyoming ID card, &ldquo;provided that [they do] not contain any indication that the person is not a United States citizen.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>HB 157 similarly passed with overwhelming support (53-6-3). Both measures now head to the state Senate for consideration. <\/p>\n<p>Enhancing protections against noncitizen voting was one of several <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/10\/from-citizenship-requirements-to-banning-zuckbucks-wyomings-elections-chief-pushes-bold-2025-agenda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">legislative priorities<\/a> put forward by Gray ahead of the Cowboy State&rsquo;s 2025 session designed to increase the integrity of Wyoming elections. The GOP secretary of state <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/10\/from-citizenship-requirements-to-banning-zuckbucks-wyomings-elections-chief-pushes-bold-2025-agenda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> The Federalist earlier this month that implementation of such safeguards into law would make Wyoming the &ldquo;only state in the union that has proof of citizenship for all races.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>According to the local outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/wyofile.com\/stricter-voter-registration-rules-speed-through-freedom-caucus-packed-panels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WyoFile<\/a>, &ldquo;A Campbell County resident registered as a Republican and voted in the 2020 election,&rdquo; and was subsequently &ldquo;charged by the federal government with passport fraud.&rdquo; A federal official, the outlet reported, &ldquo;informed state authorities in August 2023 that the man, a Mexican national, had obtained a false Wyoming driver&rsquo;s license and registered to vote.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Wyoming clerks reported &ldquo;a combined five non-citizens who had tried to vote in 2024&rsquo;s general election&rdquo; but were &ldquo;turned away,&rdquo; according to WyoFile. <\/p>\n<p><strong>[READ:[READ:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/10\/from-citizenship-requirements-to-banning-zuckbucks-wyomings-elections-chief-pushes-bold-2025-agenda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">From Citizenship Requirements To Banning &lsquo;Zuckbucks,&rsquo; Wyoming&rsquo;s Elections Chief Pushes Bold 2025 Agenda<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While Republicans hold trifecta control of state government, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fulton-county-ga-ballot-inspection-hearing-underway\/\" title=\"Fulton County, Ga. ballot inspection hearing underway\">passing election integrity bills<\/a> has proven difficult in recent years, in large part due to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/22\/wyoming-is-the-epicenter-of-americas-fake-red-state-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opposition<\/a> from the GOP establishment. For example, a bill prohibiting private election funding, such as &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/10\/12\/the-2020-election-wasnt-stolen-it-was-bought-by-mark-zuckerberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zuckbucks<\/a>,&rdquo; was killed in committee last year in an apparent act of retaliation against the Wyoming Freedom Caucus, whose members <a href=\"https:\/\/cowboystatedaily.com\/2024\/02\/13\/some-legislators-mad-as-house-kills-record-13-committee-bills-on-introduction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voted down<\/a>&nbsp;several <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">establishment-backed bills introduced earlier<\/a> in the session.<\/p>\n<p>The petty maneuver prevented Wyoming from joining the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/capitalresearch.org\/article\/states-banning-zuck-bucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">growing list<\/a>&nbsp;of states (28) that have successfully banned or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wyomings-elections-chief-lays-out-bold-2025-agenda\/\" title=\"Wyoming&#039;s Elections Chief Lays Out Bold 2025 Agenda\">restricted private election funding<\/a>.
