of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fentanyl-smoking-strip-used-bookmark-san-franciscos-main-library-taken-homeless-drug-addicts-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fentanyl<\/a> is one-tenth of a gram, the typical increment in which the substance is sold.<\/p>\n<p>The investigator continued to message with Wells in an undercover manner to set up a supposed fentanyl sale.<\/p>\n<p>Wells went to a Tom Thumb convenience store in Panama City, Florida, to meet the man she thought was the fentanyl dealer, only to meet multiple Bay County Sheriff&rsquo;s Office officers instead.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect had been texting with an investigator named Stephen Pettijohn, who goes by PJ, apparently causing confusion since his initials are similar to those of her drug dealer.<\/p>\n<p>A search of her car revealed the presence of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cdc-warning-drug-100x-worse-fentanyl-hit-america-deaths-rise-700-percent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drug<\/a> paraphernalia, with some of the items testing positive for fentanyl.<\/p>\n<p>Wells was booked into the county jail and released on a $5,000 bond, with a hearing scheduled for Jan. 30.<\/p>\n<p>She faces charges like unlawful use of a two-way communication device, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended or revoked license with knowledge, per WTVY.<\/p>\n<p>Bay County Sheriff&rsquo;s Office authorities told the public to &ldquo;be careful who you text.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>This story is, of course, rather amusing.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine the shock Wells experienced when she realized that she had made the fateful mistake of texting a cop, the absolute last person with whom anyone would want to discuss a drug purchase.<\/p>\n<p>But fentanyl is far from a laughing matter.<\/p>\n<p>Like many other states, Florida has been battling the opioid epidemic for years.<\/p>\n<p>The numer of &ldquo;unintentional and undetermined drug overdose deaths more than doubled&rdquo; between 2014 and 2016, rising from 2,175 to 4,672, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridahealth.gov\/statistics-and-data\/fl-dose\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data<\/a> from the Florida Department of Health.<\/p>\n<p>Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody nevertheless <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myfloridalegal.com\/newsrelease\/video-ag-moody-and-fdle-announce-third-straight-decrease-statewide-drug-deaths-florida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> last year that the state is leading the nation with respect to fentanyl <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/democrat-mayor-arrested-drug-trafficking-gun-running-ring-prostitution-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">seizures<\/a> and is seeing a decline in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-rep-murphy-fentanyl-crisis-direct-result-of-joe-bidens-reckless-open-border-policies\/\" title=\"Exclusive \u2014 Rep.
