Right now, a 32-hour workweek for staff will not be one of them,&rdquo; the staffers added.<\/p>\n<p>The letter, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3289212\/progressive-capitol-hill-staffers-push-lighter-32-hour-work-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">sent yesterday<\/a>, said a switch from a 48-hour workweek to a 32-hour week would increase staff retention, prevent burnout, and serve as a national model.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">association received severe backlash<\/a> from Republicans and Democrats. Those in GOP and Democratic circles, including lawmakers, criticized the progressive organization for being lazy, ungrateful, and tone-deaf, especially after the letter called the role of a congressional staffer can be &ldquo;demanding and intensive.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Whether by drafting and analyzing legislation, meeting with impassioned advocates, communicating with constituents and the media, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/progressive-capitol-hill-staffers-push-for-a-lighter-32-hour-workweek-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Progressive Capitol Hill staffers push for a lighter 32-hour workweek - Washington Examiner\">smoothly administering office operations<\/a>, D.C. staff are often required to manage a cascade of sensitive and challenging projects at any given time,&rdquo; the association wrote. &ldquo;Staffers routinely work long hours at a level of rigor that regularly leads to burnout.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The association said the intensive work would lead to staffers seeking new positions &ldquo;earlier than they would in a more predictable and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/massive-and-rare-predator-photographed-in-heartland-state-this-could-make-short-work-of-anyone-nearby\/\" title=\"Giant and uncommon predator spotted in Heartland State - Beware of its deadly presence.\">sustainable work environment<\/a>.&rdquo;
