This laid-back policy came after two <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">black men weren&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t allowed to use the restrooms in a Rittenhouse Square location in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/philadelphia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Philadelphia<\/a>, Pennsylvania, and the resulting skirmish led to their arrest.<\/p>\n<p>Only paying customers will be allowed to use Starbucks&rsquo;s &ldquo;cafes, patios and restrooms&rdquo; according to its code of conduct unveiled Monday. The code also outlines that there will be &ldquo;no misuse or disruption of our spaces&rdquo; in addition to prohibitions on alcohol, drug, and vape use.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, the Starbucks regional manager for the Rittenhouse Square location was awarded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/1163156\/starbucks-regional-manager-fired-after-black-men-refused-bathroom-awarded-over-25-million\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"$25.6 million\">$25.6 million<\/a> when a jury found that she was unfairly fired over the situation. Shannon Phillips sued Starbucks, alleging that she was discriminated against for being a white employee involved in the situation when the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/adidas-exec-says-he-promoted-black-manager-as-a-contribution-to-diversity\/\" title=\"Adidas Exec. Says He Promoted Black Manager as a \u201cContribution to Diversity\u201d\">black manager<\/a> at the scene was not fired. Police opted not to charge either of the two men.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last summer, Starbucks replaced its CEO with Brian Niccol, who formerly ran Chipotle. Its previous CEO, Laxman Narasimhan, managed a boycott against the chain because pro-Palestinian protesters said it was somehow connected to Israel.
