The project will prioritize serving multifamily residents and the city&rsquo;s fleet, with 66% of funds directed to disadvantaged communities,&rdquo; a release from the DOT says.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Biden administration has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">made historic investments<\/a> to support the EV transition and make sure it&rsquo;s made in America,&rdquo; said Pete Buttigieg, the secretary of the Transportation Department. &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fhwa.dot.gov\/environment\/cfi\/grant_recipients\/round_2\/cfi-awardees-round2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>These investments will help states<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;and communities build out a network of EV chargers in the coming years so that one day, finding a charge on a road trip will be as easy as filling up at a gas station.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>According to the DOT website, direct current fast charging equipment can charge a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/16-states-sue-usps-over-potential-gas-truck-purchase\/\" title=\"16 states sue USPS over potential gas truck purchase\">battery electric vehicle<\/a> to 80% in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/rural\/ev\/toolkit\/ev-basics\/charging-speeds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>&ldquo;just 20 minutes to one hour.&rdquo;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>North Carolina, according to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncdot.gov\/initiatives-policies\/environmental\/climate-change\/Pages\/zev-registration-data.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>latest data available<\/strong><\/a>, has less than 120,000 zero emission vehicle registrations and more than 8 million for combustion engines. Former Gov. Roy Cooper, in 2022, upped a 2018 goal for zero emission vehicles to 1.25 million by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve it, the state would need to add 1,135,000 in 60 months &ndash; a pace of just under 19,000 a month.
