On Thursday, a cloture vote resulted in 84 in favor and \u2062only nine\u200d opposed, allowing the bill to\u2062 proceed to a potential vote \u200bas early \u2063as \u2063next week. Just because senators vote to end debate, does not mean they will vote to pass the bill.<\/p>\n<p>However, only a majority vote will be required at that time, meaning the measure looks like it will easily pass.<\/p>\n<p> <script type=\"text\/javascript\"> \t\t\tif ( getCookie( \"ff_subbed\" ) ) { \t\t\t\tdocument.getElementById(\"stnvideo\").remove() \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>The bill is named for the 22-year-old Georgia nursing student <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-laken-rileys-christian-faith-full-display-stepfather-reads-one-final-journal-entries-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Laken Riley<\/a>, who was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant while out for a jog in Athens in February of last year.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple Democrats have already come out in support of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/senate-bill\/5\/text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">legislation<\/a>, including John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Ruben Gallego of Arizona, both of whom actually co-sponsored it, along with over<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/senate-bill\/5\/cosponsors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 50 Republicans<\/a>. GOP Sen.
