I promise you, we&rsquo;re going to help you get through this,&rdquo; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Biden also commented on the lack of water flowing from Los Angeles city and <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">county fire hydrants<\/a> after Mayor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/karen-bass\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Karen Bass<\/a> dismissed concerns during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/capitol-police-arrest-man-threatening-to-blow-up-u-s-capitol-after-hours-long-standoff\/\" title=\"Capitol Police Arrest Man Threatening To Blow Up U.S. Capitol After Hours-Long Standoff\">earlier press conference<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The utilities understandably shut off power because they are worried the lines were going to be blown down and spark additional fires,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;When they did that, it cut off the ability to generate pumping the water. That&rsquo;s what caused the lack of water in these hydrants.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kamala-harris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Kamala Harris,<\/a> a California native, attended the briefing and criticized insurance companies that are &ldquo;sadly&rdquo; canceling coverage for some families affected by fires, which will &ldquo;place an added burden on their ability to recover.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the week, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/fema\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Federal Emergency Management Agency<\/a> agreed to sign a Fire Management Assistance Grant to support the impacted community and help pay back California for its firefighting costs.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Biden was scheduled to depart for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/italy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Italy<\/a> on Thursday to meet with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/pope-francis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Pope&nbsp;Francis<\/a>, Italian President Sergio Mattarella,&nbsp;and Italian Prime Minister&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/giorgia-meloni\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Giorgia Meloni<\/a> but canceled his trip Wednesday because of the fires.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;After returning this evening from Los Angeles, where earlier today he had met with police, fire and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/over-30-killed-in-russian-rocket-strike-on-ukrainian-train-station\/\" title=\"Over 30 Killed in Russian Rocket Strike on Ukrainian Train Station\">emergency personnel fighting<\/a> the historic fires raging in the area and approved a Major Disaster declaration for California, President Biden made the decision to cancel his upcoming trip to&nbsp;Italy&nbsp;to remain focused on directing the full federal response in the days ahead,&rdquo;
