Elon Musk Could Make It Happen, According To Business Partner\">endangered species list<\/a>, despite \u200dthe bears&#8217;\u2062 population having significantly increased, which \u2062has raised concerns among ranchers. \u2063This decision has frustrated House Republicans, who have\u200c called for the Biden governance to \u200blift protections for the species, as the grizzly population has surpassed recovery goals necessary for delisting. Representative Harriet hageman \u200cfrom Wyoming criticized the agency&#8217;s decision, claiming it ignores the intentions of the endangered Species Act.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) declined petitions from Wyoming and Montana to delist grizzly bears as endangered despite the animals&rsquo; population boom becoming a threat for ranchers. <\/p>\n<p>The agency delivered the ruling Wednesday, frustrating House Republicans who&rsquo;ve urged the Biden administration to eliminate protections on the bears which have more than doubled their recovery goals for delisting.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The USFWS&rsquo;s refusal to delist the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem grizzly bear is just the latest example of the agency&rsquo;s utter failure to follow the intent and purpose of the [Endangered Species Act],&rdquo; Rep. Harriet Hageman, R-Wyo., told The Federalist. <\/p>\n<p>Hageman was an original <a href=\"https:\/\/hageman.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/hagemans-bill-delist-grizzlies-advanced-natural-resources-committee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sponsor<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/house-bill\/1245\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">legislation<\/a> to delist the bears as endangered in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, where grizzlies have multiplied and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/17\/the-feds-want-to-unleash-grizzly-bears-will-they-reintroduce-wolves-in-boston\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tripled<\/a> their range. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The [Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem] grizzly population has exceeded recovery goals for over 2 decades (by over 100%), yet here we are,&rdquo; Hageman told The Federalist. &ldquo;This proves what we have been saying for so long: the [Endangered Species Act] has little to do with recovering and protecting endangered species, and everything to do with land use control and limiting access to and use of our natural resources.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Hageman&rsquo;s bill passed the House Natural Resources Committee but did not receive a vote by the full chamber. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The only reasonable announcement by the USFWS today would have been a total delisting of the grizzly bear in these ecosystems,&rdquo; said Bruce Westerman, an Arkansas Republican who chairs the House Natural Resources Committee, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/5074960-biden-administration-declines-to-remove-grizzly-bears-from-endangered-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a> to The Hill. &ldquo;USFWS is blatantly ignoring science in their decision by hiding behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-republicans-introduce-two-bills-to-combat-the-job-killing-biden-agenda\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: Republicans Introduce Two Bills To Combat The \u2018Job-Killing Biden Agenda\u2019\">bureaucratic red tape<\/a>.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Their decision endangers communities, especially farmers and ranchers, who live under the threat of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">grizzly bear attacks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Grizzly bears have been listed as a federally endangered species since 1975. The slow-reproducing bears, however, have <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/17\/the-feds-want-to-unleash-grizzly-bears-will-they-reintroduce-wolves-in-boston\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recovered<\/a> beyond their population goals outlined by the Fish and Wildlife Service.
