The city has a long-standing problem with supplying the hydrants in the area with water from the nearby reservoirs, Caruso said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There&rsquo;s no water in the fire hydrants,&rdquo; Caruso told the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2025-01-08\/lack-of-water-from-hydrants-in-palisades-fire-is-hampering-firefighters-caruso-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Los Angeles Times\">Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/em>. &ldquo;This is a window into a systemic problem of the city &mdash; not only of mismanagement, but our infrastructure is old.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Los Angeles Department of Water and Power personnel said in a statement that the water supply in the area comes from &ldquo;water tanks&rdquo; but that the department still has to transport water there.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Water System crews are also responding to the Pacific Palisades area to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-admin-places-another-bulk-order-of-monkeypox-vaccines\/\" title=\"Biden Admin Places Another Bulk Order Of Monkeypox Vaccines\">ensure availability<\/a> of water supplies to support firefighting efforts,&rdquo; the department wrote. &ldquo;LADWP has crews onsite working alongside LAFD and the Palisades Fire Incident Command to ensure continued availability of water supply in the area.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Caruso is a Los Angeles developer of high-end hotels and shopping centers. He switched party affiliation from Republican to Democrat before he launched his mayoral bid in 2022, which he<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/1375063\/los-angeles-mayor-race-karen-bass-increases-lead-over-rick-caruso-as-counting-continues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"ultimately lost\"> lost<\/a> to Mayor Karen Bass.<\/p>\n<p>California is also experiencing a wind storm, which is helping spread the fire.
