Notably, a \u200dDecember YouGov survey revealed that only\u200d about 20% of Americans\u200b have resolved to enhance their physical wellbeing through increased exercise or healthier \u2063eating. In contrast, a quarter of respondents expressed intentions to utilize\u2063 weight-loss medications such as Ozempic, which \u2064function similarly\u2063 to medically induced anorexia.<\/p>\n<p>The reliance on\u2062 pharmaceutical solutions over \u2063lifestyle changes signifies a troubling shift in the approach to health. A Tebra \u2064survey indicated that\u2064 66% of participants believe that \u200cGLP-1 medications are more effective than \u2062customary weight loss methods like diet and exercise. While the primary concern regarding thes \u200cdrugs is their cost, many users are drawn to them despite a range\u2064 of \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/vaccine-maker-biontech-looking-into-reports-of-heart-inflammation\/\" title=\"Vaccine maker BioNTech looking into reports of heart inflammation\">potential side effects<\/a> that include nausea, diarrhea, and even serious\u200c complications. Alarmingly, approximately 25%\u200c of users\u200c are \u2062self-medicating without professional guidance, and nearly 50% report \u2063experiencing side effects.<\/p>\n<p>The trend is especially prevalent among younger generations,\u200c especially Generation Z, with \u200d37% indicating plans to use \u200dthese medications. This increasing preference for drug interventions over lifestyle improvements\u2064 poses\u200b significant challenges for public\u200c health efforts aimed\u2062 at <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">promoting healthier living\u2062 habits<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Not enough Americans are taking adequate measures to cultivate better health, and those who are seem to expect novel medical injections to do the heavy lifting for them.<\/p>\n<p>A December YouGov <a href=\"https:\/\/today.yougov.com\/society\/articles\/51144-what-are-americans-new-years-resolutions-for-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">survey<\/a> found roughly 1 in 5 Americans have resolved to improve their physical health and either exercise more and\/or eat healthier this year. A separate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tebra.com\/theintake\/healthcare-reports\/weight-loss-medications-and-wellness-resolutions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">survey<\/a> found a quarter plan to take Ozempic or some other kind of weight-loss drug akin to medically induced anorexia to reach their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/paying-people-money-for-losing-weight-works\/\" title=\"For losing weight, people should be paid money\">weight-loss goals<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The use of pharmaceutical interventions and significant lifestyle changes are not mutually exclusive. In fact, the latter are imposed on those who take the former for any responsible weight loss regimen. But a deeper look at how Americans feel about each reveal a new paradigm taking over the modern medical system that will be hard to shake in any effort to make America healthy again.<\/p>\n<p>According to the November questionnaire from Tebra, a digital health care firm, 66 percent of the 1,012 surveyed believe &ldquo;GLP-1 medications are more effective than traditional methods like diet and exercise.&rdquo; The drugs&rsquo; high costs, and not their side effects, were cited as the largest concerns among those interested in them. Potential consequences include nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting, and constipation ranging from mild to severe. The medication has also reportedly led to a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/06\/19\/ozempic-users-spark-spike-in-er-visits-shocking-new-side-effects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">spike<\/a>&nbsp;in emergency room visits, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-proposes-medicare-and-medicaid-coverage-for-ozempic\/\" title=\"Biden Proposes Medicare And Medicaid Coverage For Ozempic\">patients suffering blurred vision<\/a>, pancreatitis, malnutrition, and drooping faces. Eighty-six percent of those surveyed by Tebra, however, said the risks were worth the benefits. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/science\/2024\/02\/26\/how-americans-view-weight-loss-drugs-and-their-potential-impact-on-obesity-in-the-u-s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">study<\/a> published last year from the Pew Research Center based on more than 10,000 U.S. adults found 65 percent believe &ldquo;willpower alone is usually NOT enough&rdquo; to lose weight and keep it off compared to 34 percent who said otherwise. Democrats were 12 percent more likely than Republicans to be skeptical of willpower alone as powerful enough to drive weight loss, though majorities of adults in both parties were on the same side of the question. <\/p>\n<p>The surveys reflect a population frustrated by popular recommendations to lose weight with all kinds of contradictory information bombarding the internet after federal nutrition guidelines have demonstrably failed the public for several consecutive generations. For decades, Americans were told to follow a low-fat, low-calorie diet only to in turn binge on high-carb and hyper-processed consumables sold to them as healthy. The end <a href=\"https:\/\/usafacts.org\/articles\/obesity-rate-nearly-triples-united-states-over-last-50-years\/#:~:text=In%20the%20early%201960s%2C%20roughly,than%2019%25%20by%20March%202020.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">result<\/a> is a nation that went from 13 percent obese in 1960 to more than 40 percent obese by 2015. Americans&rsquo; chronic health problems began to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanactionforum.org\/research\/chronic-disease-in-the-united-states-a-worsening-health-and-economic-crisis\/#:~:text=Less%20than%202%20percent%20of,one%20chronic%20condition.%5B19%5D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pile up too<\/a>, with the nation today suffering from higher rates of diabetes, childhood asthma, and mental illness.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[READ:[READ:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/11\/19\/americans-want-to-stop-being-fat-and-unhappy-but-dont-know-how\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Americans Want To Stop Being&nbsp;<em>Fat And Unhappy<\/em>&nbsp;But Don&rsquo;t Know How<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President-elect Donald Trump will confront divisions within his own administration on how to approach the American obesity epidemic after President Joe Biden issued lame-duck <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/11\/26\/biden-proposes-35-billion-handout-for-big-pharmas-lucrative-weight-loss-drugs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rules<\/a> to include the GLP-1 injections under federal insurance programs. Trump&rsquo;s nominee to lead the department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Robert F. Kennedy Jr., would have to approve the rules if confirmed but has been a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/rfk-jr-says-ozempic-other-173800548.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">consistent critic<\/a> of the medications.
