The sweeping legislation requires cities and counties to comply with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ex-dhs-chief-far-left-biden-immigration-bill-signals-to-traffickers-its-okay-to-come-extreme-incentive-for-future-illegal-immigration\/\" title=\"Ex-DHS Chief: \u2018Far-Left\u2019 Biden Immigration Bill Signals To Traffickers \u2018It\u2019s Okay To Come,\u2019 \u2018Extreme Incentive\u2019 For Future Illegal Immigration\">federal immigration laws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Critics of the bill say it is expensive for local governments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;HB1105 will likely expand the state&rsquo;s system of&#8239;carceral control&#8239;and&#8239;caging of people of color while perpetuating the separation of immigrant families,&rdquo; David Schaefer, vice president of research and policy for the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute,&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/georgia\/article_6890a53a-07fc-11ef-9b7b-13bf6e101a69.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">previously said.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Other <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">public safety items include legislation<\/a> that penalizes criminal use of artificial intelligence and one that increases penalties for street racing.<\/p>\n<p>City leaders are also proposing a bill that would allow cities to lessen impact fees for developers, which the panel said could address the affordable housing crisis. The fee waiver would be optional for cities.<\/p>\n<p>A bill that called for public hearings on Special Administrative Permits should be reconsidered, the council said in its agenda.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;An SAP can be for projects as simple as the construction of an addition to a single-family home, a renovation, or a demolition. The development community and homeowners are hindered by this requirement because it adds more time to the SAP process,&rdquo; the agenda said. &ldquo;The city is hindered by this requirement because it must use staff and resources to advertise the hearing, prepare for the hearing, and staff the hearing.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The council is also supporting legislation that would require proposed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/microsoft-responds-to-china-cyber-attack-by-expanding-business-in-china\/\" title=\"Microsoft Responds to China Cyber Attack by Expanding Business in China\">data centers<\/a> to disclose their water usage. Georgia has had an influx of data centers. More than 50 companies have data centers in the Peach State,&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/georgia\/article_b2a26012-c937-11ef-868f-3b0e1a8d979c.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Mayor&rsquo;s Office of International and Immigrant Affairs is asking lawmakers to approve a bill that would allow DACA recipients and refugees to qualify for in-state tuition registering at Georgia&rsquo;s colleges and universities. A bipartisan group of lawmakers proposed&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legis.ga.gov\/legislation\/63761\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">House Bill 131<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;during the 2024 session, but it did not pass.
