George W. Bush and Democrat Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/op-ed-want-understand-basics-global-warming-just-follow-al-gores-money\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Al Gore<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bush won the Electoral College vote by a narrow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.270towin.com\/2000_Election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">271 to 266<\/a> over Gore, just one Electoral College vote required of the 270 to win.<\/p>\n<p>The race all came down to the election <a href=\"https:\/\/constitutioncenter.org\/blog\/on-this-day-bush-v-gore-anniversary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">result in Florida<\/a>, which Bush carried by just over 500 votes after a recount of the entire state.
