Monday&rsquo;s increase follows a recent trend of rising prices at the pumps after decreasing significantly in December before Christmas, with the national average almost falling beneath $3 per gallon.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, despite the recent rise, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/gas-prices\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gas prices<\/a> have fallen significantly from previous highs, particularly in the spring and summer of 2024. Less than six months after his term began, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">gas prices increased significantly<\/a> in June 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gas-prices-slightly-more-expensive-than-a-week-ago-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Gas prices: Slightly more expensive than a week ago - Washington Examiner\">reaching record-high averages<\/a> of over $4 per gallon. After setting the highest national average in the country&rsquo;s history in 2022, gas prices began to fall. After hitting a high for the year in April 2024, prices started to gradually decline in May.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The national average for fuel costs fluctuated significantly over the next two years but remained higher than during President Donald Trump&rsquo;s first term. Biden is the only president in the country&rsquo;s history, other than Barack Obama (when Biden was vice president), to have multiple years of the average price for regular gas exceeding a price point of $3 per gallon.<\/p>\n<p>While the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/video-california-gas-prices-soar-to-record-high\/\" title=\"VIDEO: California Gas Prices Soar to Record High\">current national average<\/a> for regular gas is $3.064, the cost varies across the country, depending on the state. Prices range from under $2.55 to over $4.50 per gallon. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/oklahoma\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oklahoma<\/a> has the lowest gas prices in the country, with an average cost of$2.558 per gallon. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hawaii\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hawaii<\/a>, on the other hand, has the most expensive gas in the nation at $4.548 per gallon.<\/p>\n<p>Gas prices in and around Washington, D.C., also vary quite a bit, with most areas having costs higher than the national average.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Before Christmas, the average cost for a gallon of regular gas in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/delaware\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Delaware<\/a> was under $3 per gallon. It had the cheapest gas prices in the region. Today, the cost of a gallon of regular gas in the First State has risen to $3.09.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/maryland\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maryland<\/a>, the cost of regular gas is even higher than in Delaware, at $3.138 per gallon. A week ago, in the state, a gallon of regular gas was only $2.904. In <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/washington-dc\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington, D.C.<\/a>, a gallon of regular gas is $3.215 on Monday, the highest in the region.
