This helps provide context for the reader.

2. **Main Ideas**: Determine the primary arguments or themes presented in the text.⁢ What is the author’s main point or thesis?

3. ⁣**Supporting Details**: ⁤Look for the most important ⁢details that support these main ideas.⁢ This might include evidence, ⁣examples, or key statistics that the author uses to back up their claims.

4.**Objective Tone**: Maintain an unbiased tone in your‍ summary. It should reflect the‌ author’s views⁢ without inserting your own opinions or interpretations.

5. **Conciseness**: Aim for brevity. Your summary should be significantly ‍shorter than the original text while still conveying the essential ideas.

6. **Paraphrasing**: Write the summary in your own words rather than directly quoting the text. This showcases ‍your comprehension of the material.

7. **Clarity ‌and ‍Coherence**: Ensure that your summary is clear and logically structured. Each sentence should flow naturally‌ into the next to create a cohesive overview.

### Example Summary (Hypothetical Opinion Article)

Title: “The Future of Renewable Energy”

Author: Jane Doe

In her opinion ⁤article, Jane Doe argues that investing in renewable‌ energy‌ is critical for sustainable growth and environmental⁣ preservation. She‍ highlights that transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable sources such as solar and wind energy could significantly reduce carbon emissions. Doe supports her argument with statistics indicating that renewable energy investments ‍have doubled in the past‍ five years and⁢ are expected to continue ⁤growing.
