According to \u200bCarville, the party not only \u2064lost\u2063 the white House and control of the Senate but also\u200d failed to gain \u200ccontrol\u2063 of the House. Additionally, he noted that\u200d President-elect\u200b Donald Trump won all seven swing states and\u200c the popular \u2063vote over Vice\u200d president Kamala Harris.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead to 2025, Carville \u200bsuggests that Democrats \u200cneed \u200dto rally around\u2063 policies that are both popular\u2064 with the\u2064 public and\u200c that Republicans cannot support. He pointed out specific \u2062issues \u200dlike raising \u200cthe minimum wage, safeguarding protections under Roe\u200c v. Going into 2025, Carville suggested several strategies the party can use to right its ship, including being popular across all sides of the Democratic Party while also standing for policies the Republican Party &ldquo;can&rsquo;t be for.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;So they can&rsquo;t be for raising the minimum wage, because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-biden-doesnt-want-you-knowing-about-drug-price-controls\/\" title=\"What Biden Doesn&#039;t Want You Knowing About Drug Price Controls\">people won&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t let them, the financiers won&rsquo;t let them, the billionaires won&rsquo;t let them,&rdquo; Carville said on MSNBC&rsquo;s<em> Inside with Jen Psaki<\/em>. &ldquo;They can&rsquo;t be for having protections for women in <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, because that&rsquo;s part of who they are. Then they can&rsquo;t be for doing away with tax cuts for people who make over $400,000 a year and take that money and use it to help <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">young people buy<\/a> or rent a home. This is 75% popularity stuff. All we have to do is be there and hammer it home. And like I say, it&rsquo;s three things: massively popular all across the party, massively popular all across the country, and the Republicans can&rsquo;t be for it. Ram it home, ram it home!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 640px; max-height: 360px; min-width: 320px; min-height: 180px; overflow: hidden;\">\n<div style=\"position: relative; width: 100%; padding-top: 56.25%;\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/share.grabien.com\/share.php?id=2744254&amp;userid=11311&amp;loginid=9421&amp;playercolor=%23000000&amp;playersize=auto&amp;code=a447f7609f3d914389ad13b557db3992\" style=\"position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; border: 0px;\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Another factor that the Democratic Party needs to improve on, Carville contended, is communication with voters, specifically warning against speaking in &ldquo;jargonistic language.&rdquo; He referenced his iconic words in the 1992 election, &ldquo;It&rsquo;s the economy, stupid,&rdquo; and how these were directed to &ldquo;the geniuses&rdquo; in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/bill-clinton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Bill Clinton&rsquo;s<\/a> campaign to be &ldquo;authentic and to the point&rdquo; over being &ldquo;too smart&rdquo; to voters.<\/p>\n<p>At the start of 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/01\/02\/opinion\/democrats-donald-trump-economy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Carville wrote an op-ed<\/a> reflecting on why he was wrong in his prediction for the presidential election, and also advised Democrats eyeing the White House in 2028 that their auditions should be based on &ldquo;how authentic you are on the economy&rdquo; as well as how effectively they communicate this in podcast interviews. Prior to the 2024 election, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3193261\/2024-election-trump-harris-campaigns-podcast-interviews\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Trump made numerous appearances on podcasts to discuss his policies<\/a>, marking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3255010\/how-podcasts-changed-the-world-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">the first U.S. presidential election in which podcasts played a pivotal role<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With Trump set to return to the White House in about two weeks, the <em>Washington Examiner&rsquo;s<\/em> Byron York assessed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/3270653\/democrats-have-no-one-to-lead-opposition-to-trump-going-into-2025-byron-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">the Democratic Party currently has &ldquo;no one&rdquo; of Trump&rsquo;s stature to lead the opposition to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mike-kelly-same-people-criticizing-trump-peddled-russia-collusion-hoax\/\" title=\"Mike Kelly: Same People Criticizing Trump Peddled Russia Collusion Hoax\">president-elect<\/a> and his presidential agenda<\/a>. He also encouraged for a proper debate on what went wrong with the party following the 2024 election cycle.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Examiner&rsquo;s<\/em> Tiana Lowe Doescher has also given her take on what the party&rsquo;s next steps should be, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3273095\/democrats-need-distance-geriatric-branding-tiana-lowe-doescher\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">include addressing its &ldquo;unpopular policies&rdquo; as well as its &ldquo;geriatric&rdquo; reputation among the public<\/a>.
