This act of intervention occurred as he was leaving the venue with his wife, children, and friends. Following the incident, Courtney \u200bMurray, Matthew&#8217;s \u200cwife, testified that \u200ctheir \u200bfamily encountered an &#8220;ambush&#8221; situation, highlighting the urgency with which her husband attempted to de-escalate the conflict. Despite identifying himself\u200d as law enforcement\u200d and urging\u200c the\u200c participants to\u2063 leave, the situation \u2064escalated, with one \u2064individual reportedly \u200cdismissing his concerns by saying, &#8220;I don\u2019t give a f**k about your kids.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>eighteen-year-old Christopher Smith was arrested about seven \u2064hours after the shooting and charged with attempted murder. During the investigation, \u2063Smith \u200dallegedly claimed that \u2063Murray had hit him first, which led him to &#8220;blackout&#8221; \u200band shoot \u200dMurray once. Authorities are still searching for the weapon\u2063 used in the shooting.
