per a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/safety\/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts\/braga-fresh-issues-voluntary-and-precautionary-advisory-due-possible-health-risk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">release<\/a> from the agency.<\/p>\n<p>The broccoli may be contaminated with listeria, as revealed in random sampling conducted by Texas Health and Human Services which found a potential for the bacterial contamination.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This product is past its best if used by date and is no longer in stores, but consumers may have frozen the item for later use,&rdquo; the FDA warned.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Consumers who have this product in their freezers should not consume and discard the product,&rdquo; the agency continued.<\/p>\n<p> <script type=\"text\/javascript\"> \t\t\tif ( getCookie( \"ff_subbed\" ) ) { \t\t\t\tdocument.getElementById(\"stnvideo\").remove() \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/recall-pet-death-immediately-discard-product-contact-place-purchase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recall<\/a> will impact 20 states into which the broccoli packages were distributed, such as California, Colorado, Illinois, Texas, and Washington.<\/p>\n<p>The product can be identified with the UPC code &ldquo;6 81131 32884 5&rdquo; and the lot code &ldquo;BFFG327A6.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>There have not yet been any illnesses reported with respect to the broccoli florets.<\/p>\n<p>The FDA stated that listeria can cause infections in certain segments of the population, particularly those who are most vulnerable.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,&rdquo; the release said.<\/p>\n<p>Of particular concern, listeria can also hit the most vulnerable: &ldquo;Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The announcement of the Braga Fresh recall comes months after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-deli-meats-cdc-investigates-listeria-outbreak-across-u-s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">investigated<\/a> an outbreak of listeria that left <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/boars-head-identifies-root-cause-deadly-listeria-outbreak-indefinitely-discontinues-popular-product\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nine dead<\/a> and dozens infected across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The agency traced the outbreak to liverwurst made at a Boar&rsquo;s Head plant in Jarratt, Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>Boar&rsquo;s Head announced in September that &ldquo;our investigation has identified the root cause of the contamination as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/boars-head-closing-us-plant-tied-to-deadly-outbreak-will-permanently-discontinue-product\/\" title=\"Boar&#039;s Head Closing US Plant Tied to Deadly Outbreak, Will Permanently Discontinue Product\">specific production process<\/a> that only existed at the Jarratt facility and was used only for liverwurst.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The company therefore &ldquo;decided to permanently discontinue liverwurst&rdquo; as they faced several lawsuits over the contamination.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Department of Agriculture officials similarly issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-usda-issues-recall-12-million-pounds-meat-sent-schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nationwide recall<\/a> of certain meat and poultry products in October over concerns about listeria.<\/p>\n<p>That move impacted almost 12 million pounds of ready-to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pollak-putin-didnt-dare-invade-ukraine-when-puppet-trump-was-president\/\" title=\"Pollak: Putin Didn&#039;t Dare Invade Ukraine When &#039;Puppet&#039;
