The recovered packages went to the Bonifay Post Office, which ensured they were delivered to their rightful owners,&rdquo; the release continued.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Lewis was taken into custody and charged with Organized Scheme to Defraud, Grand Theft, and Illegal Dumping.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.al.com\/news\/2024\/12\/alabama-fedex-delivery-driver-arrested-after-dozens-of-packages-dumped-in-florida.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Al.com<\/a> reported that while he was delivering the packages in Florida, Lewis has addresses listed in Montgomery and Houston counties in Alabama.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Homes County is close to the Alabama state line,&rdquo; the outlet noted.<\/p>\n<p>As of Dec. 23, Lewis was still being held in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/detention-officer-brutally-killed-county-jail-texas-rangers-now-involved\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">county jail<\/a> &mdash; not a pleasant way to spend the run-up to Christmas, I imagine.<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s unclear whether Lewis, 28, has any prior record.<\/p>\n<p>What is clear is that, unless the media release from the sheriff&rsquo;s office is profoundly misleading, this was a man who probably should have thought better about his scheme to avoid working late.<\/p>\n<p>One understands, of course, the pressures that delivery drivers face on the job, especially around Christmastime.<\/p>\n<p>In the weeks and months to come, perhaps Lewis becomes a cause c&eacute;l&egrave;bre among those who disdain the pressures of the modern Amazon\/e-commerce society and the workload it puts on delivery drivers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/amazon-layoffs-just-got-way-worse-fresh-batch-workers-getting-bezos-nasty-christmas-present-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">especially around the holidays<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, quitting is always an option. No matter what, it&rsquo;s better than jail &mdash; even if it&rsquo;s indicative of the poor work ethic among Americans these days.<\/p>\n<p><i>Working<\/i> beats&nbsp;<em>not working<\/em>, yes &mdash; but <em>not working<\/em> also beats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pardoning-evil-convict-biden-commuted-selling-teens-profit-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prison<\/a> and a criminal rap, too.
