Neighbors also confirmed at the time to WJBK that they heard the outside sleeping arrangement was a punishment.<\/p>\n<p> <script type=\"text\/javascript\"> \t\t\tif ( getCookie( \"ff_subbed\" ) ) { \t\t\t\tdocument.getElementById(\"stnvideo\").remove() \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It hurts every night to go to sleep and know these kids are out here,&rdquo; neighbor Kiarra Collins said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In July, it was 80-90 degrees. Now it&rsquo;s 20 degrees.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>When offered food or shelter, the boys refused either.<\/p>\n<p>Even when offered money, they declined.<\/p>\n<p>Video showed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/blue-state-bans-addictive-social-media-content-minors-notifications-school-hours\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">minors<\/a> outside as the wind chill made the air feel 15 degrees.<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HoKTebLTSac?si=5NDnrEuNKtai2rH_\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The home belongs to a pastor of a nearby church. This man is believed to be the boys&rsquo; father.<\/p>\n<p>On Dec. 10, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox2detroit.com\/news\/detroit-police-children-chose-sleep-porch-after-parents-did-everything-could\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WJBK<\/a> posted an update about what investigators had so far learned about the unusual case.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Detroit Police Department, a thorough investigation of the boys&rsquo; living situation turned up no evidence that it was abusive. In fact, the boys reportedly wanted to sleep outside.<\/p>\n<p>The brothers always had access to both the house and a bathroom.<\/p>\n<p>Their parents tried to dissuade the boys from the habit to no avail.
