Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has \u2064expressed skepticism about Republican plans\u2064 to pursue legal charges against members of teh January 6 Committee, particularly concerning allegations against Liz Cheney and cassidy\u2062 Hutchinson. In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/prince-harry-claims-his-father-prince-charles-made-him-suffer-as-member-of-royal-family\/\" title=\"Prince Harry Claims His Father, Prince Charles, Made Him \u2018Suffer\u2019 As Member Of Royal Family\">recent podcast interview<\/a>, Raskin questioned the\u2063 evidence that Republicans might have \u200bto support such prosecutions, \u200despecially following statements\u2063 from\u2062 President Trump\u2064 suggesting \u2063that Committee members should face jail time for allegedly erasing evidence. Raskin, who now leads the House Judiciary Committee, stated his commitment to preventing the politicization of the Department of Justice. Republicans have condemned Cheney for alleged witness tampering and encouraging a witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, to commit perjury.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Witness tampering and perjury are about trying to get people to lie. Encouraging truthfulness is not a crime,&rdquo; Raskin said. &ldquo;It is not against the law to encourage someone to testify truthfully in a legal proceeding.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>He also noted that Republicans &ldquo;haven&rsquo;t contradicted a single thing that Cassidy Hutchinson said or any of the factual statements in the [Jan. 6] Committee&rsquo;s report.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/foreign-policy\/3222295\/trump-victory-questions-ukraine-funding\/\"><strong>TRUMP VICTORY RAISES QUESTIONS OVER FUTURE OF UKRAINE MILITARY AID<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the Dec. 17 &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/cha.house.gov\/_cache\/files\/6\/d\/6dae7b82-7683-4f56-a177-ba98695e600d\/145DD5A70E967DEEC1F511764D3E6FA1.final-interim-report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Interim Report<\/a> on the Failures and Politicization of the January 6th Select Committee,&rdquo; some findings include that Hutchinson allegedly &ldquo;falsely claimed to have drafted a handwritten note for President Trump on January 6,&rdquo; that she &ldquo;lied about the classification status of documents to disparage Mark Meadows,&rdquo; and that she &ldquo;misrepresented President Trump&rsquo;s actions at Lafayette Square Park in the summer of 2020.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The report claims there is more than a terabyte of &ldquo;missing digital data&rdquo; as well as &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-all-j6-witness-video-depositions-have-mysteriously-vanished-rep-loudermilk-confirms\/\" title=\"Rep. Loudermilk confirms that all J6 witness video depositions have mysteriously disappeared\">missing video recordings<\/a> of witness interviews,&rdquo; and highlights multiple cases of alleged &ldquo;collusion&rdquo; in the investigation, including between &ldquo;Special Counsel Jack Smith and President Trump&rsquo;s adversaries.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Raskin said that the Speech and Debate Clause &ldquo;protects legislators in their legislative capacities, both in direct legislative action and investigative research,&rdquo; and &ldquo;if the executive branch can intimidate legislators to stop them from investigating, you&rsquo;re shutting down a central aspect of legislative functioning.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Jan. 6 Committee concluded that Trump was a &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/336031\/jan-6-report-accuses-trump-of-multi-part-conspiracy-to-overturn-election-and-stoke-capitol-riot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">central cause<\/a>&rdquo; of the Capitol riot. However, Trump has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justsecurity.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/january-6th-clearinghouse-trump-letter-to-select-committee-october-13-2022-.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">pointed out<\/a> that prior to things getting out of hand, he told demonstrators to &ldquo;peacefully and patriotically&rdquo; protest, and that he requested thousands of troops to the Capitol that were allegedly denied by Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While Trump said he thinks those behind the Jan. 6 Committee should go to jail, he said he will not direct his FBI Director or Attorney General to &ldquo;send them to jail.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;No, not at all.
