One, if by land, and two, if by sea,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paulreverehouse.org\/longfellows-poem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the poem<\/a> by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow read.<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mFvBDJV8gBQ?si=TEelEyahGchd2Hrz\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Although the Old North Church paintings were only recently lifted from obscurity, researchers had already suspected their presence based on historical records, according to the AP.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers had a copy of a signed contract from John Gibbs, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pennsylvania-church-service-descends-chaos-man-charges-pastor-gun-drawn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">church congregant<\/a> who painted the angels.<\/p>\n<p>A 2017 paint study also confirmed the angels&rsquo; presence, but their condition was unclear.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;For much of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nevada-allowed-to-continue-counting-ballots-received-after-election-day-judge-rules\/\" title=\"Nevada allowed to continue counting ballots received after Election Day, judge rules\">church&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s history, people who were coming here to the church would have seen those angels, would have seen the colorful interior,&rdquo; said Emily Spence, the associate director of education at Old North Illuminated.<\/p>\n<p>In total, there were 20 angels painted over.<\/p>\n<p>Efforts to uncover the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/obama-portrait-artists-old-paintings-come-back-bite-evil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">paintings<\/a> began in September.<\/p>\n<p>The plan is to uncover another eight by spring, Spence said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;They all have their own character &mdash;
