Arto Pakhin, Fingrid&rsquo;s operations manager, told a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-admin-dropping-thousands-of-underage-migrants-into-new-york-in-the-dead-of-night\/\" title=\"Biden Admin Dropping \u2018Thousands\u2019 Of Underage Migrants Into New York \u2018In The Dead Of Night\u2019\">local news organization<\/a> that &ldquo;the possibility of sabotage cannot be ruled out.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Finnish authorities said they took control of an oil tanker on Thursday traveling from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Russia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Russia<\/a> under the suspicion that it could be responsible for the outage.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/3240974\/meet-new-congress-house-senate-freshmen-119th\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>MEET THE NEW CONGRESS: THE HOUSE AND SENATE FRESHMEN ELECTED TO SERVE NEXT YEAR<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;From our side we are investigating grave sabotage,&rdquo; Robin Lardot, Director of the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation, said, according to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/finland-police-investigate-role-foreign-ship-after-power-cable-outage-2024-12-26\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Reuters<\/a><\/em>. &ldquo;According to our understanding an anchor of the vessel that is under investigation has caused the damage.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Eagle S Panamax oil tanker crossed the Estlink 2 electricity cable at the same time as when Fingrid said the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/power-goes-out-during-south-african-president-cyril-ramaphosas-speech-at-fundraiser\/\" title=\"Power Goes Out During South African President Cyril Ramaphosa&#039;s Speech at Fundraiser\">power outage occurred<\/a>, per a Reuters review of MarineTraffic ship tracking data.<\/p>\n<p>A statement from Fingrid acknowledged that the repairs needed &ldquo;is estimated to take several months,&rdquo; and issues could rise during cold periods.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Estlink 2 electricity transmission connection between Finland and Estonia has been disconnected this afternoon,&rdquo; Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said. &ldquo;Authorities are still on standby over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/christmas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Christmas<\/a> and are investigating the matter. The interruption of the transmission connection will not affect the electricity supply of Finns.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Estonian Foreign Affairs Minister Margus Tsahkna spoke with Finland&rsquo;s Minister of Foreign Affair Elina Valtonen to discuss the attack.
