Taking our cue, these <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">officials fabricated impact<\/a> that we could report,&rdquo; she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The fabrication came in the form of cordoning off public monuments in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We knew and even discussed in the newsroom that this made no sense. These monuments weren&rsquo;t &lsquo;manned&rsquo; to begin with,&rdquo; she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Attkisson characterized this incident as simply the most memorable among multiple acts of shutdown-related theater and deceit.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There are other examples but this is the one I remember the most,&rdquo; she concluded.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Quick story about govt. shutdowns and the theatrics behind them. Instead, we&hellip;<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Sharyl Attkisson &#128373;&#65039;&zwj;&#9794;&#65039;&#128188;&#129355; (@SharylAttkisson) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SharylAttkisson\/status\/1869913284318519730?\">December 20, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The 63-year-old Attkisson, author of &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Slanted-Media-Taught-Censorship-Journalism\/dp\/0062974696\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Slanted: How the News Media Taught Us to Love Censorship and Hate Journalism<\/a>&rdquo; (2020), has made amends for that behavior, though she certainly qualified as old enough to know better at the time.<\/p>\n<p>The real story, however, involves two facts that remain relevant to this day.<\/p>\n<p>First, the establishment media will stoop to any degree of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mainstream-medias-new-trump-hit-piece-immediately-falls-apart-source-steps-forward-says-reporter-outright-lied\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dishonesty<\/a>, provided it helps Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>CBS&rsquo;s own &ldquo;60 Minutes,&rdquo; for instance, got caught <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cbs-embroiled-huge-journalistic-scandal-major-change-kamala-harris-60-minutes-answer-spotted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">doctoring<\/a> an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris in October during her failed presidential campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Second, Democrats and their allies in the Republican establishment desperately want Americans to regard the federal government as essential. After all, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-admin-threatens-to-sue-texas-over-law-giving-state-power-to-crack-down-on-illegal-immigration\/\" title=\"Biden administration warns Texas, may take legal action over law targeting illegal immigration\">federal government functions<\/a> as the mechanism by which the establishment plunders American citizens.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/healthiest-communities\/slideshows\/richest-counties-in-america\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/a>, suburbs of Washington, D.C. accounted for five of the 10 wealthiest counties in America by median household income in 2023.
